Activities at Edingley Lodge Care Home
Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.
We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

Life at Edingley Lodge Care Home

Herstory of Mayfair
Residents across our services had a fantastic time joining Mandy Morrow for a virtual walking tour to learn about the ‘Herstory’ of Mayfair. The Mayfair of Nightingales may be long gone but it still holds a 20th century charm. Birthplace to the late Queen Elizabeth II, home to one of WWII's most decorated female war heroes and a tale of a wealthy Aristocrat and one of France's favourite designers.
We were delighted to take a walk down memory lane and discover stories from one of London's most iconic areas. The experience was truly enjoyed by all.

Home go for gold!
Residents and staff at Edingley Lodge care home, in Newark, Edingley laced up their trainers and warmed-up for their annual sports day. Staff and residents took to their marks in the egg and spoon, wheelbarrow, and three-legged races as staff cheered on. The residents battled it out to be crowned sporting champions by before being treated to a winner’s buffet of fresh sandwiches, home-made carrot cake and Pimms.

National Ice-cream Day
Perfectly timed in the middle of a heatwave, staff and residents at Barchester’s Edingley Lodge care home in Newark, Edingley had a fantastic time celebrating National Ice Cream Day on July 18th, a brilliant excuse to sample lots of cooling treats.
Overseen by head chef, staff and residents experimented with many different types of toppings and flavour combinations, from the exotic, to the alcoholic, and back to the traditional – sorbets, frozen yoghurt and good old dairy-based ice cream, they tasted and savoured them all.

Stars and Stripes for American Independence Day
Staff and residents at Edingley Lodge got the flags out and celebrated American Independence Day in style by hosting a ranch inspired party with line dancing and cowboy hats on the 4th of July.
Many residents have visited America and some have family living there so American Independence Day was a great excuse to reminisce about previous trips and go on virtual tours to favourite places such as New York, the Grand Canyon and San Francisco. Residents enjoyed movies from the Golden Age of Hollywood as well as dancing to playlists including American greats such as Buddy Holly, Judy Garland and Frank Sinatra.

Residents join dogs welfare charity
Residents across our homes had a fantastic time during a special live virtual event, led by Jennifer and Emily from Dogs Trust, the UK's largest dog welfare charity.
Jennifer and Emily took us on a journey to discover the rich history of Dogs Trust and their facilities. Using captivating video and photo footage, our residents were able to explore rehoming centres and learn more about the highest level of welfare offered there. It was a delightful experience for everyone, especially our dog lovers.
