Activities at Edingley Lodge Care Home
Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.
We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

Life at Edingley Lodge Care Home

It's Fiesta time....
Staff and residents at Edingley Lodge celebrated Mexican Independence Day on September 15th in style by hosting a Mexican-inspired fiesta with mariachi music, salsa dancing and cocktails. Every year on September 16th, the bells of every town square in Mexico sound to remember that in Dolores Hidalgo, a town in Mexico, in the early morning of the 16th of September 1810, Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla, a Catholic Priest known as Father Hidalgo, made the first cry for Independence from Spain who were the rulers at the time. So, between the 15th and 16th of September (Midnight of the 15th of September), Mexicans celebrate the moment of insurgency, the possibility, and the hope for Freedom in their country. It was the moment that defined their National identity.

Residents and staff at Edingley Lodge care home celebrated their cultural heritage at a special event this Morning. Residents at Edingley Lodge Care Home enjoyed a range of traditional food from countries all over the world, served up by staff dressed in clothing of their original national heritage. Staff suggested dishes which represented their home nation's culture, which have been prepared by chef and his team for all to sample.
Deputy Manager Joanne Parrish said: “We are proud of our rich cultural diversity so thought what better way to celebrate this by having a multicultural day. Our residents are extremely excited and are looking forward to sampling traditional dishes from across the world.”

Indian Independance day
Residents and staff at Edingley Lodge marked the 77th Indian Independence Day which took place on August 15th.
Independence Day is celebrated on August 15th, the anniversary of the day in 1947 when the provisions of the Indian Independence Act, which transferred legislative sovereignty to the Indian Constituent Assembly, came into effect and India gained its Independence from the United Kingdom. It is a public holiday in India. The Prime Minister raises the red national flag of India and addresses the nation.
Residents watched videos of celebrations across India and travelled virtually to famous sites in India. Those residents who had visited India previously shared their experiences of their trips. Head chef put on a fabulous spread of delicious Indian dishes including a variety of different curries with samosas, bhajis, pakora, kofta, papdum, naan, with raita, lime pickle and mango chutney all washed down with lots of delicious hot tea.
