Activities at Cubbington Mill Care Home
Every day we run different activities throughout our home. The activities are designed and adapted to each individuals personal needs. The activities are designed to mentally and physically stimulate the people we care for and also to enhance their life skills and feelings of purpose and self-worth. The activities encourage interaction on a one to one basis, in small groups, in large groups and some are designed for the whole home including staff to be involved in.
We are registered with the National Activity Providers Association (NAPA) which ensures we are able to achieve and continually progress to enhance the quality of life for those we support in the home. We provide entertainers such as singers, musicians, magicians, puppeteers, poets and dancers. We also have regular exercise classes and arts and craft classes. Relatives and visitors will be able to see what me make in these classes on display around the home. We have regular trips out on the mini bus to visit garden centres, enjoy high tea, visit the butterfly farm and spend the day at the zoo with a picnic. We encourage the local community, schools, colleges and relatives to come and join us for activities, tea and cake and to visit to share their skills as much as possible.
Staff from across the home are always willing to help and share their knowledge and skills across a whole range of activities we have had everything from carers preforming Bollywood style dancing to cooking classes from the chef. We feel activities are a vital part of the residents lives to ensure they are stimulated mentally and entertained.

Hi my name is Rose and I am the activities coordinator at Cubbington Mill!
I have been working in care since I was 17 and very passionate about my role, always trying to do bigger & better. I am one of Cubbington Mills Dementia Champions. I'm very privileged to work with the wonderful people and residents at Barchester's Cubbington Mill and hope we all make some lovely memories together! I LOVE to find out about residents interests & hobbies through tools like the “Getting To Know Me Booklets”.

Life at Cubbington Mill Care Home
A Get Together at the Cubbington Pub!
We listened to traditional pub songs, played dominoes and darts & finished with a quiz. All whilst enjoying beer, lager, mocktails and more!
Vaccinations Lift Our Spirits
Staff and residents were delighted to be invited to have the vaccination which has lifted everyone’s spirits after what has been a very challenging year for everyone.
Enjoying Christmas Lunch
Cat our Deputy Manager was in festive spirit serving our Christmas day lunch, thank you to our chef & dining team for a wonderful meal. Presents opening in the morning, games and carols in the afternoon, what a lovely day.
Christmas Market
Residents recently enjoyed Cubbington Mill’s very own Christmas festive market thanks to the kind donations from Morrison’s of gift sets, biscuit tins and chocolates, as well as some of our residents' very own handmade crafts from previous activities in December.
Residents enjoyed an authentic shopping experience, where they had the opportunity to choose gifts for their friends and family.
Residents ended the afternoon with mulled wine and mince pies in the transformed dining room. They enjoyed pulling Christmas crackers together and laughing at all the jokes.
Remaining social is so important, particularly at this time of year. We want residents at Cubbington Mill to continue to experience life as normal, despite the current restrictions, and this shopping experience has done just that.
For residents in their rooms, the trolley went round with gifts on, and they chose from the selection to be wrapped and ready in their rooms to give to their loved ones at upcoming visits.
Caterpillar Christmas Cards
Residents recently received personalised handmade Christmas cards from the children of Caterpillar Nursery. Faces lit up as they read the warm messages written by the children, and they cannot wait to send some back.
Thank you so much for thinking of us here at Cubbington Mill; the special intergenerational connection between our residents and the young children at Caterpillar Nursery is so special and we look forward to continuing these projects throughout 2021, with the hope that we will see everyone in person someday soon.
The Halloween Spirit
Residents got in the Halloween spirit by painting their very own pumpkins for the Cubbington Mill Pumpkin Competition.
All of our pumpkins were kindly donated by Morrisons Leamington Community at our local Morrison’s, Leamington Spa.
Members of the community placed their pumpkins outside the home and residents judged their favourite. With no trick or treating this year, a member of the ‘Cubbington and surrounding villages’ Facebook group thought it would a great idea to hold a Cubbington scarecrow event, and we here at Cubbington Mill just had to get involved!
Residents spent all afternoon up to their eyeballs in hay stuffing their very own scarecrow, which had pride of place next to the pumpkin patch outside the front of the home on Halloween weekend.
Our handy maintenance man, Waldemar, created a large wooden body that residents used to tie an old Barchester uniform to and stuff with hay.
Listening to Halloween songs, everyone laughed as they tried to manoeuvre the huge scarecrow and bring it to life. Residents are really pleased with the results!
