Activities at Crabwall Hall Care Home
Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

We all know that keeping active is important. We have created a wonderful culture within the home and we work together to give residents the best possible experience. We are here to ensure that residents enjoy an environment that is both stimulating and socially active. We ensure the team knows each residents' preferences, so that we can deliver a person-centered program of events and activities. Essential to our homely feel is the strong relationships of trust we build with residents and their families and friends. The home also has its very own minibus for our numerous outings for coffee and shopping, which residents love.

Life at Crabwall Hall Care Home
Century celebrations
Celebrations have been in full swing at Crabwall Hall Residential Home in Mollington, Chester, as one of its residents reaches her centenary in style. Audrey was joined by staff, relatives, friends and other residents as she received a telegram from the Queen in recognition of her landmark birthday. A champagne reception was held at the home and guests enjoyed a special birthday cake made by the home’s chef Ian.
Audrey is originally from Shotton, Wales and was married in Rivertown church there. Audrey worked in RAF Sealand in HQ before coming to Crabwall Hall, where she is enjoying a new chapter of her life.
Resident sees book published
“Dr. Brian Coles has resided in Crabwall Hall for a year and today we are so proud to share his exciting news, that he has finalised and published his first book. -“Nature's Wings and Their Passengers” How amazing is this achievement, well done Brian!
Brian dedicated his life as a veterinarian and has such a passion for animals. The book contains a wealth of experience and knowledge. Ultimate origin and evolution of infectious disease in humans, in birds and other winged creatures.
Dr. Mark Pilgrim, Director General of Chester Zoo said the following: " It is a rare delight when someone with the wealth of experience of Brian puts his treasure trove of knowledge into print. The book is full of fascinating information on an underexplored aspect of evolutionary biology."
Staff here at Crabwall couldn't be prouder. Brian has kindly donated one of his books to our library. Brian’s book is also available on Amazon.
Conversations by the Pond
We had a lovely time joining Henry Slator for an exciting virtual event to discuss his book ‘Conversations at the Pond’.
Henry had an unusual writing journey, which many of our residents found inspiring, he underwent chemotherapy in early 2020, which allowed him to rediscover his light-hearted outlook on life by imagining conversations with creatures in and around his large garden pond and adding buckets of fun.
The entertaining Conversations at the Pond, with its mass of colourful illustrations, took our residents along his journey, they felt inspired, cheered and loved hearing all about Henry’s experiences.
Home celebrate long service award
Last week we had the absolute pleasure of celebrating 25 years long service to Crabwall Hall! This wonderful achievement goes to our Team Leader, Sarah Jones.Sarah is a dedicated, hardworking, committed member of our team. She works tirelessly to make the lives of our residents enjoyable and she's always there for everyone when needed!
Ladies Day at the races
The ladies at our home had a great excuse to put on their elegant clothes and hats in recognition of the Ladies Day at the Grand National, held annually at Aintree Racecourse.
The day is held alongside horse racing, and is famous not only for the action on the course, but the fashion and entertainment of it.
The Astor's
Our residents came together to enjoy an exciting virtual talk courtesy of the team at National Trust Talks Service. The illustrated talk took us closer to one of Cliveden’s most famous families, the Astors. Our residents were able to discover what motivated William Waldorf Astor, America’s richest man, to purchase Cliveden in 1893 and how the estate became the centre of high society in the 1920 s and 30 s thanks to his son Waldorf and daughter in law Nancy Astor.
The Astors time at Cliveden came to an end in the 1960 s after the estate became infamously associated with Profumo Affair, but the house and garden continue to reflect their innovations and passions. We all had a brilliant time.
