Activities at Collingtree Park Care Home

Our specialist activities staff are committed to organising a mix of activities and events for residents and the local community to get involved in, including trips out to local places of interest in our minibus and visits from entertainers and musicians. It is important to us that each individual who we support can get as much from these as they can, so we try our best to arrange activities that reflect their interests and capabilities as best as possible, and encourage them to participate in any way they can. We also encourage relatives to join in with activities and events as often as they can.

Skye Summerton

Activities Coordinator

Hello, my name is Skye and I'm the Activities Coordinator here at Collingtree Park care home. My role is to enrich the lives of our residents by providing stimulating and person-centred activities. We offer something for everyone, including arts and crafts, games and live entertainment including visits to places of interest in the local area. I love to provide one-to-one time and sensory activities with residents who need a little more support.

Getting to know our residents better is so important, and through regular meetings with family and friends I can gain a greater understanding of their loved ones' interests and life prior to joining the Collingtree Park community.

We are an animal friendly care home with a resident cat called 'Bella' and daily visits from our residents' family dogs. We understand the power of PET Therapy and welcome animals of all sizes from mini beasts to the quarterly Alpaca visits a local farm.

We are always open to new ideas. If you would like to get involved in any of our Life Enrichment activities or have a skill, or project you'd like to share with our residents, please click here to contact me direct. New entertainers and community links are always welcome.

Life at Collingtree Park Care Home

The Big Sleep Out

The Big Sleep Out

On Friday 27th January, our General Manager, Rhiannon Crofts, and Administrator, Tracey Snook, took part in ‘the BIG sleep out’ in support of the Northampton Hope Centre, a fantastic local organization that supports and provides hope for the homeless and disadvantaged. A huge well done to them both for rising over £1000! Tracey said: "maybe next year we can find a warmer way to raise money."

Chinese New Year

Chinese New Year

The year of the Rooster was celebrated with a morning of Chinese-inspired word games, followed by a dragon dance just before lunch. We had a selection of Chinese starters, mains and even a Chinese pudding. The room was decorated beautifully in red, gold and black decorations that were made by residents themselves. Everyone said how much they enjoyed the themed lunch so much that we went out for a Chinese meal the following week.

Burns Night Lunch

Burns Night Lunch

To celebrate Burns Night, we had a very special guest who played the bagpipes and cut the haggis. Everyone enjoyed the Scottish-themed lunch on a wonderfully decorated table fit for the occasion.

iPad Time

iPad Time

As part of sensory time, our Activities Coordinator decided to try something a little different; we watched videos of ‘live’ fish and butterflies on an iPad. Everyone on Memory Lane loved watching the bright colours and listening to the relaxing sounds. This is definitely an activity we will be doing again soon.

Happy Birthday, Elvis!

Happy Birthday, Elvis!

To celebrate the King of Rock 'n' Roll's birthday, we had a party in his honour with live music from one of the residents' favourite singers, Johnny Red. Happy birthday, Elvis!

Sleeping Rough for the Night

Sleeping Rough for the Night

On Friday 27th January, Rhiannon Crofts (General Manager) and Tracey Snook (Administrator) braved the cold by sleeping on the streets in these minus temperatures to highlight the growing problem of homelessness and in support of the Northampton Hope Centre, a fantastic local organisation which supports and provides hope for the homeless and disadvantaged.

Although we only had to suffer one night in these freezing temperatures, we are supporting an incredibly widespread crisis and an extremely sad reality for so many people from all walks of life. There are so many myths and misunderstandings about homelessness and we want to be part of changing the way people think about and see homelessness.
