Activities at Collingtree Park Care Home
Our specialist activities staff are committed to organising a mix of activities and events for residents and the local community to get involved in, including trips out to local places of interest in our minibus and visits from entertainers and musicians. It is important to us that each individual who we support can get as much from these as they can, so we try our best to arrange activities that reflect their interests and capabilities as best as possible, and encourage them to participate in any way they can. We also encourage relatives to join in with activities and events as often as they can.

Martin Tilly-Reed
Hello, my name is Martin, I'm the activities coordinator here at Collingtree Park
My role is to ensure that our activities, outings and the entertainment we provide is stimulating and inclusive of all our residents no matter their challenges. It is important to me that our weekly calendar offers enriching experiences with music from live entertainers, visits to various locations outside the home, as well as arts and crafts tailored to individual abilities.
Getting to know our residents better is so important, and through regular family and friends’ meetings we can gain a greater understanding of their loved ones' interests and life prior to joining Collingtree Park that will make for a richer activities program to be developed.
I look forward to getting to know you, and your loved ones.
We are always open to new ideas. If you would like to get involved in any of our Life Enrichment activities or have a skill, or project you'd like to share with our residents, please click here to contact the activities team direct. New entertainers and community links are always welcome.
Activities and Events Partnerships
As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies

Rock 'n' Roll with Joe
Last Friday we had the pleasure of being joined by Joe Sterling, for a rock 'n' roll and musical set!
Our residents enjoyed singing along to classics by Buddy Holly, Cliff Richard and Elvis Presley, as well as enjoying musical numbers from Oklahoma, My Fair Lady and many more.
The residents thoroughly enjoyed their afternoon!

Happy Birthday 'Isobel'
Happy birthday to Isobel, who turns 95 today! Isobel was delighted with her chocolate truffles and cakes, which she insists staff and other residents share with her. It wouldn't be a birthday without a #BarchesterCake!
Isobel said "I wasn't expecting this at all, it is so very kind of you to make me a cake, it is so beautiful, thank you". Thank you to our chef Tamara and everyone in the kitchen for making birthdays here so special.

Armed Forces Day Afternon Tea
What a wonderful afternoon we had celebrating Armed Forces Day here at Collingtree Park.
Residents enjoyed reminiscing using our replica ration books, newspapers from 1914 and memorable posters from the war.
Our residents shared memories of collecting the weekly rations, ticking their books and having the tricky decision of which jam to pick. Joan told me "it's nothing like today, where you can have whatever you want, whenever you want it!".
Meanwhile, Mavis shared her memories of her dad, and the joy of being given a torch one day, so that she was able to play outside again after bombs had destroyed street lights.
Our residents enjoyed 1940's hits, a selection of treats and good company to round off the afternoon too.

Intergenerational Fun
We've had a lovely morning with Collingtree Day Nursery joining us for bubble blowing, strawberry counting and lots of singing on Bluebell walk today.
Doreen said "They (the children) are so beautiful and sweet, it reminds me of being young again - because I looked like that once!".
Our residents had a lovely time singing along and clapping to "Happy and You Know it" and "Incy Wincy Spider" too!
Thank you for joining us, we can't wait to see you all soon.

100 Words this Week
Weekly word game! This morning we played our weekly word game on Bluebell walk. This activity is great as it keeps our residents minds active and exercises the brain. Playing games like this regularly supports brain function too.
This week we managed to find 100 words!

A walk to remember!
Avis and I like to occasionally take a walk in the evenings, around the houses and reminisce. However, we opted for a change of scenery on Friday and took a stroll around the local golf course.
We ended up strolling a little further than anticipated and were chauffeured by the lovely David, who took us to see his lovely garden and showed us the "scenic" route of the course too in his golf buggy!
Thank you David - Avis really enjoyed our detour, but she enjoyed a cup of tea on our return more!
