Activities at Collingtree Park Care Home

Our specialist activities staff are committed to organising a mix of activities and events for residents and the local community to get involved in, including trips out to local places of interest in our minibus and visits from entertainers and musicians. It is important to us that each individual who we support can get as much from these as they can, so we try our best to arrange activities that reflect their interests and capabilities as best as possible, and encourage them to participate in any way they can. We also encourage relatives to join in with activities and events as often as they can.

Skye Summerton

Activities Coordinator

Hello, my name is Skye and I'm the Activities Coordinator here at Collingtree Park care home. My role is to enrich the lives of our residents by providing stimulating and person-centred activities. We offer something for everyone, including arts and crafts, games and live entertainment including visits to places of interest in the local area. I love to provide one-to-one time and sensory activities with residents who need a little more support.

Getting to know our residents better is so important, and through regular meetings with family and friends I can gain a greater understanding of their loved ones' interests and life prior to joining the Collingtree Park community.

We are an animal friendly care home with a resident cat called 'Bella' and daily visits from our residents' family dogs. We understand the power of PET Therapy and welcome animals of all sizes from mini beasts to the quarterly Alpaca visits a local farm.

We are always open to new ideas. If you would like to get involved in any of our Life Enrichment activities or have a skill, or project you'd like to share with our residents, please click here to contact me direct. New entertainers and community links are always welcome.

We're celebrating 5-Star success

Our staff and residents are celebrating the home receiving a 5-star Food Hygiene Rating by the local authority on 27th March 2023.

The achievement is the highest rating a care home can receive from an Environmental Health officer, and shows the home has complied with all the statutory obligations; showing outstanding food hygiene standards.

General Manager, Tom Grabowski commented “Following the unannounced inspection, we’re extremely pleased to have been awarded 5-stars for our food hygiene. Achieving the highest possible standard is incredibly important and I’m so proud of Head Chef Jennifer Briggs and the Hospitality team at Collingtree Park. Jennifer joined the Collingtree team in September 2022, this award is in recognition of her extensive knowledge and continued hard work in maintaining the hygiene and cleanliness standards in our kitchen. She took great pleasure in tearing the previous award sticker up!”

Food hygiene ratings are an inspection given to a food business that reflects the standards of food hygiene found on the date of inspection or visit by the local authority.

The ratings assess:

- How hygienically food is handled – prepared, cooked, reheated, cooled and stored.
- The cleanliness of a business, including taking into consideration layout and ventilation.
- How food records are managed.

Puzzles Stimulate Memories

Today residents on Memory Lane have enjoyed one to one puzzle sessions with a cup of tea and biscuits. These easy to handle dementia friendly activities help with hand-eye coordination, stimulate conversation through reminiscence and provide a sense of achievement.

Ivan said 'Thank you for helping me complete something, and thank you for being here with me to do it'.
