Activities at Collingtree Park Care Home

Our specialist activities staff are committed to organising a mix of activities and events for residents and the local community to get involved in, including trips out to local places of interest in our minibus and visits from entertainers and musicians. It is important to us that each individual who we support can get as much from these as they can, so we try our best to arrange activities that reflect their interests and capabilities as best as possible, and encourage them to participate in any way they can. We also encourage relatives to join in with activities and events as often as they can.

Activities Coordinator

Martin Tilly-Reed

Activities Coordinator

Hello, my name is Martin, I'm the activities coordinator here at Collingtree Park

My role is to ensure that our activities, outings and the entertainment we provide is stimulating and inclusive of all our residents no matter their challenges. It is important to me that our weekly calendar offers enriching experiences with music from live entertainers, visits to various locations outside the home, as well as arts and crafts tailored to individual abilities.

Getting to know our residents better is so important, and through regular family and friends’ meetings we can gain a greater understanding of their loved ones' interests and life prior to joining Collingtree Park that will make for a richer activities program to be developed.

I look forward to getting to know you, and your loved ones.

We are always open to new ideas. If you would like to get involved in any of our Life Enrichment activities or have a skill, or project you'd like to share with our residents, please click here  to contact the activities team direct. New entertainers and community links are always welcome.

Activities and Events Partnerships

As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies

Welcoming Cuddly 'Kylo'

Residents at Collingtree Park love the animal therapy sessions that our dedicated Activities Team organises regular doggie visits. As one of the foundations of our Life Enrichment program, we know that animal therapy can help reduce blood pressure and improve overall cardiovascular health.

Today, we had the absolute pleasure of welcoming Kylo, our newly-recruited adorable Bolognese therapy dog! His fluffy fur and friendly demeanour brought so much joy to our residents. From gentle cuddles to playful interactions, Kylo truly made the day brighter for everyone.

The smiles and memories he inspired were heart-warming. It’s amazing how a little fur and love can create such big moments! Thank you to Kylo and Mita who made this visit possible. We can't wait to have Kylo back again soon!

Apple Picking with Joan!

Today resident Joan had a wonderful time helping to apple pick at our own orchard. With the crisp autumn air and the warm morning sunshine, Joan, a native of Yorkshire, truly was in her element. Together we picked dozens of apples and shared them with our chefs for some homemade pies and snacks - Joan also had a taste of one. "I have never had one tasting like this," she said.

It was a great way to enjoy the season and spend some time outdoors. Thank you Joan for showing us how to embrace the beauty of autumn!

Happy 101st Birthday 'Beautiful Betty'

The start of October gave us 101 reasons to celebrate a ‘True Northamptonian Lady’

Please join us in wishing the beautiful Florence Davis, better known at ‘Betty’ a very happy 101st birthday. On her return from a lovely lunch with friends, Betty invited everyone to join her in the homes' Bluebell lounge for afternoon tea and a slice of her delicious homemade cake!

Betty is an amazing lady, a true native of Northampton having lived in the same house in Seymour Street where she was born, until June 2023. She spent all of her working life at the Co-op office in the town with the exception of the war years, where she played her part in women's branch of the British Army; The Auxiliary Territorial Service (ATS).

Happy Birthday 'Betty' from all at Collingtree Park and special thanks to Katie for sharing the fabulous photos of Betty with us all.

Macmillan Coffee Morning & Zing Entertains!

On Friday we helped fundraise for Macmillan Cancer Support with a large selection of cakes on offer to eat and purchase for a small donation to such a fantastic cause. We'd like to send a big thank you to everyone for coming along and a special thanks to Chef for creating such delicious bakes.

In the afternoon the wonderful Carole and Pete from Zing-Entertainment performed a medley of songs to get our residents singing. Pete has definitely got a few groupies in the form of Barbara, Betty and Barbara!

Congratulations Alison!

Please join us in congratulating our wonderful Home Administrator; Alison Turner on receiving ‘Employee of the Month’ for August 2024.

Alison joined the Collingtree Park team earlier this year and has made such a difference! She was nominated by our residents, her colleagues and residents’ relatives for being such an asset, calm under pressure, supportive; a real problem solver.

She was presented with her certificate, £25 voucher, flowers and chocolates by General Manager Rosalyn who wanted to say a special 'thank you' on behalf of everyone at Collingtree Park for organisational skills and determination to get the job done!

Poetry Club 'I Remember'

Taking advantage of the last of the summer sun we took our Poetry Reading Club into the garden. This week we read a piece by one of our residents Eileen, done in April 2015 and entitled "I remember".

It brought back fond memories from simpler times.

Resident Margaret remembered how they used to heat up bricks in the oven, cover them with a cloth and place them in bed under the blankets to keep warm at night time. Rodney recollected how during the air raids, he would run to the shelter his family had built in their garden and Barry said that in his youth, he loved playing dominos!
