Activities at Collingtree Park Care Home

Our specialist activities staff are committed to organising a mix of activities and events for residents and the local community to get involved in, including trips out to local places of interest in our minibus and visits from entertainers and musicians. It is important to us that each individual who we support can get as much from these as they can, so we try our best to arrange activities that reflect their interests and capabilities as best as possible, and encourage them to participate in any way they can. We also encourage relatives to join in with activities and events as often as they can.

Activities Coordinator

Martin Tilly-Reed

Activities Coordinator

Hello, my name is Martin, I'm the activities coordinator here at Collingtree Park

My role is to ensure that our activities, outings and the entertainment we provide is stimulating and inclusive of all our residents no matter their challenges. It is important to me that our weekly calendar offers enriching experiences with music from live entertainers, visits to various locations outside the home, as well as arts and crafts tailored to individual abilities.

Getting to know our residents better is so important, and through regular family and friends’ meetings we can gain a greater understanding of their loved ones' interests and life prior to joining Collingtree Park that will make for a richer activities program to be developed.

I look forward to getting to know you, and your loved ones.

We are always open to new ideas. If you would like to get involved in any of our Life Enrichment activities or have a skill, or project you'd like to share with our residents, please click here  to contact the activities team direct. New entertainers and community links are always welcome.

Activities and Events Partnerships

As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies

Spain here we come

Virtual Reality Afternoon We embraced some new technology here at the house today with Darren from Escape2VR.He took our residents on some amazing adventures, they were able to chose their own adventure and among some chosen were.. Flying in a Spitfire, Trip on a Gondola, Watching Trooping the Colour from the Queen’s Chair, Trip to Madrid’s Royal Palace. For one resident he was able to chose an adventure with horses as he used to have a horse himself. Everyone really enjoyed this new activity, Martin our Activities Coordinator is always looking at new ways to enrich our residents lives and by using Virtual Reality we can tailor each experience to the residents own interests. We look forward to welcoming Darren back with us very soon.

Visit from the Beaver Scouts

Visit from the Beaver Scouts . We were joined by the Canadian Beaver Scouts from 1st Towcester Scout Group, they came along to play some games with our residents and also chatted to them about some of their favourite toys .  For one of our residents in particular Pam it was a trip down memory lane as she used to be a Cub Scout Leader, she was very interested in looking at the badges some of the Beaver Scouts had earned. After playing games with the residents, the Beavers enjoyed doing an Easter Egg hunt in the gardens followed by cakes and fizzy pop.We can’t wait to welcome back the Beaver Scouts to the house very soon.Having these intergenerational activities in the house enriches the lives of not only the residents but that of the children too.

St Patrick's Day

Staff and residents at the home were thrilled to celebrate St Patricks Day with shamrock decorations and listening to Irish music. Our Head chef Jennifer Briggs prepared a fantastic Irish spread with traditional Irish dishes such as, Irish stew and colcannon all washed down with Guinness or an Irish whiskey.

Great fun was had by all.

Valentine's Day

We asked some of the staff and Residents here at Collingtree Park for their advice on dating, or if you are of a certain age, 'courting'.

We have decided the share with you all some of the advice, just in case you needed it.

We also hosted a Valentine's Don't Dine Alone lunch, where we invited the local community to join us.

It's good to spread the love!

Let's Go Fly a Kite

For our February Open Day we were visited by the Friday Evening Beaver Scout Colony & their Leaders as well as their mascot “Macaroni” from 1st Towester Scout Group.

They came along to help our Residents make and decorate kites as 8th February is National Kite Day.

Martin, our Activities Co-ordinator is one of the Beaver Scout Leaders and he arranged for the Beaver Scout’s to visit and get creative with our Residents.

We thoroughly enjoyed meeting the children and this has provided us with another opportunity to build intergenerational links with another fantastic youth organisation.

Bringing Generations Together

We were thrilled to welcome Abington Home Schooling Group to Collingtree Park for a heart-warming intergenerational visit.

The children, ages 18 months - 11 years and their parents joined our Residents in the lounge for a morning of chit chatter and friendly socialisation.

The older children buddied up with Residents, whilst the younger groups of children played without a care in the world while Residents watched on with smiles of joy.

Jan, our Activities Assistant offered up juice, fresh fruit and biscuits and to round off the visit the children had a run around the garden.

Thank you to everyone who took part and made this morning so wholesome - we can't wait to welcome you all back!
