Activities at Claremont Parkway Care Home
Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.
Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience, and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Read our brochure ‘Life-enriching activities’ for more information about life in our care homes.

Celebrating life at Claremont Parkway Care Home
Resident delighted in Heart-warming Reunion
A heart-warming reunion took place as a resident who had her wish granted to reconnect with a beloved former Home Manager. Mary Heyward, who has been part of the home family for over a year, expressed her desire to visit Katie Wilkinson, the previous temporary Home Manager who had left a lasting impression on her. Thanks to the thoughtfulness, General Manager, Joanna Mosses, Mary and a group of residents set off on a delightful morning trip to see Katie at Bayleaf Care Home, in Huntingdon, where Katie is General Manager.
The reunion was filled with joy as Katie warmly welcomed Mary and the other residents, treating them to tea and delicious cake prepared by the home's talented chef. As they shared stories and cherished memories, it was evident how much the visit meant to Mary and how deeply she valued the connection with Katie during her time at the Kettering home.
Reflecting on the heart-warming reunion, Katie expressed her delight at seeing Mary and the other residents, emphasising the importance of fostering friendships between the sister care homes. She also looked forward to more visits and continued connection in the future.
General Manager Joanna Mosses highlighted the profound impact that the reunion had on Mary, emphasising the significance of fulfilling such a meaningful wish and nurturing the supportive environment that the care home strives to provide.
Mary had a wonderful time and couldn’t contain her excited on the way home as she chatted about home much she enjoyed the visit with Katie.
This heart-warming story serves as a reminder of the power of connection and the lasting impact of genuine care and support in undefined.

Residents united in supporting of the Local Food Bank
We are so proud to announce that we are collecting for the local food bank. Staff, residents, and their families have been wholeheartedly gathering non-perishable food items to support those in need in the Kettering community. We are now reaching out to the wider community for assistance in making a substantial donation to the local food bank.
General Manager, Joanna Mosses, is leading this initiative and is calling on the local community to join in the effort. "We recognise the challenges that many families in our area face, especially when it comes to providing a healthy and affordable diet for their loved ones," stated Joanna Mosses. "As winter approaches, the cost of living becomes even more burdensome, and we want to offer our support to those who may need to rely on the local food bank."
We are appealing to the generosity of the community by inviting them to contribute to this meaningful cause. Whether it's a small tin of beans or a large bag of rice, every donation is valuable and will make a difference in someone's life. If you have extra food items to spare or would like to make a purchase specifically for this collection, please consider dropping it off at our reception. Your support will be greatly appreciated.
Let's come together as a community to ensure that no family goes without a meal. Your contribution, no matter how big or small, will make a meaningful impact. Thank you for your generosity and support.
Leadership in action
With the sun shining and temperatures soaring , Manager Jo surprised the team with ice cream treats to help everyone beat the heat. It was a gesture that brought big smiles, cool relief, and a little extra energy to carry on providing the best care for our residents.
Our lovely residents also indulged in some cool ice cream treats which always goes down well.
Chip, Laughs, and Lucky Spins
This evening some of our residents gathered around the roulette wheel with playful excitement, laughter echoing through the room as the little silver ball danced and spun.
For many, the game stirred fond memories of youth - days spent in bustling seaside arcades, pockets jingling with pennies, and the thrill of slot machines and old fairground games.
As the wheel turned so did the stories of later years when some had been on cruise holidays and watched the casinos come alive in the evenings.
The roulette wasn't just a game - it was a gateway to nostalgia, bringing back the magic of penny arcades and the timeless delight of a little friendly gamble.
Teddy Bears Picnic
Today we had a very special Teddy Bears Picnic with our residents and Parent and Baby group.
We had a joyful intergenerational get together filled with cuddly bears, picnic treats, and games as well as sharing stories across generations.
There was lots of laughter, connection, and the simple joy of spending time together, It's a wonderful opportunity to build friendships, bridge generation, and create lasting memories-for the young, the young at heart, and everyone in between.

A truly enjoyable afternoon was had by all.
Javelin competition
Residents enjoyed being out in the garden yesterday afternoon, as the weather was a little cooler than of late, and we had a little Javelin competition between the residents. All sporting events are always good to promote physical well being and being outside was a bonus too.
An evening of Elegance: Cheese and Wine
On Wednesday evening residents at Claremont enjoyed a cheese and wine evening, it provided a lovely opportunity for residents to come together and enjoy a relaxed, sociable atmosphere. Such events encourage social interaction, helping to reduce feelings of isolation and loneliness while fostering a sense of community.
Sharing a variety of cheeses and wines can stimulate the senses, evoke pleasant memories, and spark conversations about past experiences, travels, and favourite foods.
This type of gathering also offers mental and emotional stimulation, supporting residents' overall wellbeing. Additionally, it creates a warm and enjoyable environment where staff, residents and even family members can bond, strengthening relationships and enhancing the quality of life within the setting.
Paws & Hearts: An afternoon of Animal Therapy
Tuesday afternoon Claremont Parkway Care Home - Barchester Healthcare was filled with warmth as our residents welcomed a special visit from a group of therapy animals.
The presence of the gentle, well-trained pets brought comfort, joy, and a sense of companionship to everyone they met.
For many residents, interacting with animals evoked fond memories and offered a soothing break from routine.
Animal therapy is known to reduce stress, lower blood pressure, and improve emotional well-being - benefits that were clearly felt throughout the afternoon.
The visit not only lifted spirits but also sparked conversation, laughter, and a shared sense of connection among residents, staff and visitors alike.
It was a heart warming reminder of the simple but powerful bond between humans and animals.

Beating the Heat with Hydration
Keeping Hydrated in a care home during hot weather is essential for both staff and residents to maintain good health and well-being.
Promoting hydration is a simple but vital part of ensuring comfort, safety, and dignity for everyone in the care home during hot weather.

National Flower Week
This week our residents took part in a heart warming activity to celebrate National Flower Week by planting a vibrant array of flowers in pots to place around our home and garden.
