Activities at Claremont Parkway Care Home

Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.

Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience, and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Inspirational Connections

When Gina Dallison from Gina Dallison Coaching learnt that one of our residents; Torsten, who has Multiple Sclerosis (MS) having been diagnosed in his 30’s she offered to visit him for an inspirational chat.

In 2009 Gina was also diagnosed with MS which led her on a journey of research, empowerment and self-discovery. Her happy positive outlook is a real example of what can be achieved when you are still living with disabling symptoms of a chronic illness.

Like Gina, Torsten remains positive, and has an infectious enthusiasm for life, he spends his time researching MS; the facts, myths, clinical and alternative treatments. Before his diagnosis Torsten was a personal trainer, body coach and bodybuilding champion, Torsten has never shied away from a challenge, he’s even travelled across Europe in an armchair on wheels!

Meeting Gina and talking honestly about their shared experiences of MS, the frustrations of reduced mobility and how this debilitating disease will not define them was so inspirational.

Each at different stages of their journey, Gina’s visit certainly brightened Torstens’ day, as Gina says; “coming together we can be a beacon of hope for each other. And with this many beacons on the path, we can never get lost.”

Thank you Gina for taking time out of your busy diary to meet with Torsten, your life coaching skills dare to suggest that the MS journey, although challenging, can actually be fun, exciting and insightful.
