Activities at Chater Lodge Care Home

We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

Maria Durrant

Activities Coordinator

Hello. I am Maria and I have lived in Ketton for most of my life. I worked at the local primary school before joining Chater Lodge in 2019. My first role here was as a Dining Host and have now found my passion in creating an interesting and inclusive programme of activities for all our residents. I like having fun with residents, dressing up, singing songs and celebrating special events. I love being a part of the team here and my career change to Activities Coordinator is the best thing I have ever done.

Resident, Mary Ray, turned 107 on 5th February. She celebrated with her two lovely sons, Martin and Christopher, along with other family members. Martin flew over from Germany to be here for his mum’s big day. Mary received cards from around the world as part of our pen pal scheme, as well as getting her 7th card from the Queen.

Chinese New Year

Chinese New Year

Chinese New Year came to Chater Lodge, much to the residents' delight. We decorated the dining room and wore our conical coolie hats. Our kitchen team also provided a delicious Chinese menu over lunchtime.

Leaf Bug Musical Workshop

Leaf Bug Musical Workshop joined us to host a good ol' fashioned singalong and percussion session. Joan was very impressed with the beautiful guitar!

Active Creative

We are very proud to be trialling a new partnership with Active Creative. We are hosting a dance class for toddlers and parents where the residents can join in from their chairs or on their feet, should they wish.

The first session was an absolute joy! The ladies and gentlemen beamed with happiness watching and interacting with the children, and there were plenty of refreshments to go around.

We would like to welcome new hairdresser, Naomi, to Chater Lodge. She has been an instant hit with residents, who are all now looking beautiful. Just look at our Joan. Thank you, Naomi!
