Activities at Chater Lodge Care Home

We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

Maria Durrant

Activities Coordinator

Hello. I am Maria and I have lived in Ketton for most of my life. I worked at the local primary school before joining Chater Lodge in 2019. My first role here was as a Dining Host and have now found my passion in creating an interesting and inclusive programme of activities for all our residents. I like having fun with residents, dressing up, singing songs and celebrating special events. I love being a part of the team here and my career change to Activities Coordinator is the best thing I have ever done.

Life at Chater Lodge Care Home

Chess Club with Oundle School

Raymond loves it when the pupils of Oundle School visit Chater Lodge.  He is passionate about playing Chess and has 54 chess sets. His first one was made of bone and he bought it from a German soldier when he was in the army.

Exercises with Maria

Today Maria led the regular exercise class at Chater Lodge, stretching all our joints to keep us moving more easily.

Art with family

Max visited Caroline at Chater Lodge today and they used some of the art materials we had put out in the lounge. They drew lots of things that were important to them - goldfinches in the garden, a past holiday including sailing under harbour bridge. Care staff then started chatting about their pictures and it turned into a whole home activity. A lovely morning.

Happy Birthday Vera!

Today at Chater Lodge Vera is celebrating her birthday. She is not keen on chocolates so she received tulips and cards from staff and residents. Later she enjoyed a homemade birthday cake made by our chef, Nina. Vera's family have also visited to celebrate her special day.

Family fun

Vera's daughter Vicky came to visit her today. While they were enjoying time together in the lounge at Chater Lodge they decided to do a jigsaw together which brought back memories of holidays at the seaside and their favourite holiday activities.

Photos bring back memories for Vera

Vera loved looking at some old photos that we showed her, including pictures of the local area around Chater Lodge.
