Activities at Chalfont Lodge Care Home

Chalfont Lodge is a large care home and we have a diverse range of groups and events to ensure that everyone feels welcome and included. In the Lifestyle team we work hard to create a sense of community and ensure there is always someone to talk to and something to do.

Our residents help us to plan the monthly lifestyle programme, making sure that everyone has something they like, enabling people to keep up with life long hobbies or pick up new ones. We have long term projects like our summer parties, car shows, BBQs, craft fairs, Christmas shows to mention a few and residents can be as involved as they would like in all stages of the planning or just come along and enjoy on the day.

We love going out on trips, to lunch, shopping or to socialise with other local groups, we also have many people who come into visit us with church services, music, talks and support for our bigger events.

We have a fantastic team of staff and every department is involved in making sure our residents get the most out of living here. We have a brilliant music therapist who works her magic 3 days a week, running group and individual sessions. Our Physiotherapy team keep everyone fit and active, working with us to make sure everyone has access to sports and team games.

We have a full programme groups, events and clubs but none of it would be possible without our residents and their families, we all work together to make this a home from home and to keep laughter and friendship at the heart of what we do.

A fantastic trip out!

We were so fortunate to have taken some of our lovely Residents to the magnificent RAF Museum! We were taken on a tour of the hangers with the most amazing aircraft from last century up to the present day. Our Resident Michael served 22 years in the Force and was presented with a special pin. It was an amazing few hours. We will be going back to spend the whole day when the weather is warmer. Thank you to the volunteers and staff who made our time so special.

Exercise is Fun with our Colourful Props

What a wonderful day on our Veranda, overlooking our lake! Our dedicated Lead Physiotherapist Mansukh Chander and Pedro Bras were taking our residents through their paces with some colourful props! The music really helped the pace. Our lovely Resident, Tori, who made her prop into a wig caused lots of giggling! Our Residents quenched their thirst with our delicious homemade lemonade and an ice cream! Chalfont Lodge’s gardens and grounds are beautifully manicured lawns and flowers and trees.

Beautiful Poetry with our beautiful Residents and Staff

Generally we hold a poetry group every week. Its so lovely to see and listen too. Sally a member of our activities team loves poetry and is very happy to run the group,

World Poetry Day is celebrated every year on March 21, celebrating a linguistic expression that people from all cultures can identify with. Poetry can be found in the history of every nation, and brings us together under shared values and common humanity. The most basic of poems have the power to stir dialogue.

Staff with so many skills and talents

Here at Chalfont Lodge, we are so proud of our exceptional team of employee's. There are many, many stars that we have the pleasure of working with on a daily basis.

One of these many star's is Denise Saliagopoulos, who is part of our Activities team here at Chalfont Lodge Care Centre.

Denise is also a Member of the Board of Governors at Ashford & St Peter’s Hospital Trust . She is an elected governor of the Trust, with a particular interest in patient and family experiences.

Along with ALL staff and governor's at the Trust, Denise has been awarded the 'Covid Star' as a Thank you.

Her Majesty the Queen awarded the George Cross to the NHS. The Trust then commissioned a 'Covid Star; lifetime medal for its staff and governors.”

Well done you Denise Saliagopoulos, what an honour. Our resident's loved seeing your medal and the letter from HRH Queen Elizabeth II

Anyone for Dominoes?

Here at Chalfont Lodge, we can always find something to do on a cold afternoon in March. To add to our collection of games we had some new activities and board games delivered for our residents and staff

This week our residents chose to play with the new  giant Dominoes Set! Its such fun. Of course like every afternoon we follow any activity with tea and cake.

Dominoes really does encourage residents to socialise with our other residents and it is a great way to stimulate our brains, whilst overlooking the great view we have of our Lake and Gardens.
