Activities at Chalfont Lodge Care Home

Chalfont Lodge is a large care home and we have a diverse range of groups and events to ensure that everyone feels welcome and included. In the Lifestyle team we work hard to create a sense of community and ensure there is always someone to talk to and something to do.

Our residents help us to plan the monthly lifestyle programme, making sure that everyone has something they like, enabling people to keep up with life long hobbies or pick up new ones. We have long term projects like our summer parties, car shows, BBQs, craft fairs, Christmas shows to mention a few and residents can be as involved as they would like in all stages of the planning or just come along and enjoy on the day.

We love going out on trips, to lunch, shopping or to socialise with other local groups, we also have many people who come into visit us with church services, music, talks and support for our bigger events.

We have a fantastic team of staff and every department is involved in making sure our residents get the most out of living here. We have a brilliant music therapist who works her magic 3 days a week, running group and individual sessions. Our Physiotherapy team keep everyone fit and active, working with us to make sure everyone has access to sports and team games.

We have a full programme groups, events and clubs but none of it would be possible without our residents and their families, we all work together to make this a home from home and to keep laughter and friendship at the heart of what we do.

Alex Perkins & Louise Doyle

Activities Team

Hello, I’m Alex the Activities Lead at Chalfont Lodge, working with me is Louise Doyle. I've worked at Chalfont Lodge for 8 years now. I originally started off as a volunteer and fell in love with the residents, families and staff. Since then, I've been an Activity assist, Activity Coordinator and now the head of the department! Activities are my passion and I love creating an environment where all of the residents can thrive and do what they love!

Life at Chalfont Lodge Care Home

Armed Forces Day

Residents and staff at Chalfont Lodge paid their respects to soldiers past and present for Armed Forces Day today!

Armed Forces Day is a chance to show support for the men and women who make up the Armed Forces community from currently serving troops to Service families, veterans and cadets. This year Chalfont Lodge marked the occasion with sharing stories from the homes veterans & families.

Michael, resident at Chalfont Lodge, used to serve in the Royal Air Force as an aeronautical engineer and told us stories about himself at work. Michael told us about a drink he and his friends concocted that was their remedy for a hard days work, stout and cider mixed in equal proportions, so of course we had to give it a go! Michael said it brought back many happy memories on this special day, thanks for sharing your memories with us

Our Harpest

Ruth the harpist came to play beautiful songs for all of our residents earlier this week in the lovely sunshine and around the home.

Everyone always has a wonderful time listening to the angelic music floating into the corridors

A visit to Chiltern Open Air Museum

Resident's and Staff would like to say a massive thank you to Chiltern Open Air Museum for hosting Chalfont Lodge at a spectacular tea party.

The dancing, sing-a-long and of course meeting "The Royals" was such fun, the residents had a wonderful time and thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon

Fit for The Queen

Residents here at Chalfont Lodge were treated to a live interactive virtual Jubilee posie-making masterclass courtesy of Ferndown Florists.

Sue and Nicole from Ferndown Florists showed us how to make gorgeous floral arrangements fit for The Queen herself using an array of flowers.

The residents had a wonderful time and I think we can all agree their displays look wonderful!

Mental health awareness week at Chalfont Lodge

Earlier this week, we had a lovely visit from one of our furry volunteers for Mental Health Awareness week.

P.A.T Dog Brontë comes and visits Chalfont Lodge every other Wednesday for lots of cuddles with individuals in their bedrooms.

Therapy dogs are sometimes called "comfort dogs." They support a person's mental health by providing attention and comfort. Their sweet demeanors and unconditional love may have a therapeutic benefit to all!

Gerrard's Cross Fire Crew

International Fireman's Day!

Earlier this week Louise visited Gerrards Cross Fire Station on behalf of residents and staff here at Chalfont Lodge Care Centre. We needed to say a big thank you from Chalfont Lodge to all fire crew for always being available and risking their lives for our safety.

We were delighted to visit Gerrards Cross Fire Station earlier to have a wonderful tour around the grounds and to present cakes in appreciation of their service to our community.
