Activities at Chacombe Park Care Home

We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

Heather Gooch

Activities Coordinator

My name is Heather and I am the Head of Activities here at Chacombe Park. My role is to ensure that all residents are supported in enjoying hobbies and events that enrich their life.

I have a Bachelors degree in Theatre Performance, as well as a PGCE in Secondary Drama. I have previously worked for another Barchester home back in 2012 before working as a secondary school teacher, teaching Drama at both GCSE and A Level. I have a passion for person centred care, which has come from my love of pastoral work during my time as a teacher. I want each resident to feel appreciated and supported to enjoy the skills/hobbies that they have treasured before their time at Chacombe.

In my spare time I enjoy singing, cross stitch and learning new skills. I endeavour to bring these hobbies and passions into my role here at Chacombe, as well as learn some new skills from the vast range of knowledge that our residents can bring!

Cotsworld Wildlife Park

We managed to dodge the rain and had a wonderful day out at Cotswold Wildlife Park, bringing along our own picnic to enjoy during our adventure.

A great day was had by all and everyone got the chance to see their favourite animal. We had to refrain from sneaking a penguin out of the park - they were adorable!

The Grand Piano

The Grand Piano

Robert has just had his baby grand piano delivered, which he has had since he was a young boy. He is one happy resident and is very much looking forward to being able to play it again!

Easter Fun

We had a fabulous afternoon out Easter egg hunting around the grounds of Chacombe! With four golden bunny’s hidden as special prizes, the race was on to find them. We had a great turn out from families and loved ones and fun was had by all.

The Easter Bunny also went around in the morning delivering Easter eggs to all the residents.

National Scrabble Day

National Scrabble Day

As well as playing a Scrabble tournament throughout the day, the residents created this board with a few words that they chose to describe our home. We had lots of fun and our overall winner was resident, Rosie!

Enjoying the Weather

Enjoying the Weather

We made the most of the early spring weather by sitting out in the garden and enjoying the view.

Cocktail & Mocktail Fun

Cocktail & Mocktail Fun

We celebrated Valentine's Day over the weekend by mixing up our own cocktails and mocktails. Residents had fun shaking up their own drinks and making their own tipple to enjoy.
