Activities at Chacombe Park Care Home

We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

Heather Gooch

Activities Coordinator

My name is Heather and I am the Head of Activities here at Chacombe Park. My role is to ensure that all residents are supported in enjoying hobbies and events that enrich their life.

I have a Bachelors degree in Theatre Performance, as well as a PGCE in Secondary Drama. I have previously worked for another Barchester home back in 2012 before working as a secondary school teacher, teaching Drama at both GCSE and A Level. I have a passion for person centred care, which has come from my love of pastoral work during my time as a teacher. I want each resident to feel appreciated and supported to enjoy the skills/hobbies that they have treasured before their time at Chacombe.

In my spare time I enjoy singing, cross stitch and learning new skills. I endeavour to bring these hobbies and passions into my role here at Chacombe, as well as learn some new skills from the vast range of knowledge that our residents can bring!

Life at Chacombe Park Care Home

Teddy Bear's Picnic

Teddy Bear's Picnic

Residents enjoyed a teddy bear's picnic with the pupils of Chacombe Primary School.  It was a great opportunity for the residents and children to mix among each other.

The weather picked up, so off on our teddy bear hunt around the grounds of Chacombe we went, with the children teaming up with residents to help search for all the hidden bears.

This was a fabulous afternoon of intergenerational mixing, leaving us all exhausted when the children departed back to school.

Fashion Frenzy

Fashion Frenzy

We recently opened our own mini clothes shop, where residents could pop along, try on clothes, and keep them if they liked. This was a lovely afternoon of fun and lots of residents left happy with some new items for their wardrobe.

Carers Week

We presented our Carers with the wonderful hamper of goodies from Barchester to celebrate the amazing hard work they do on a daily basis. We have an amazing team of Carers and nothing is too much trouble for them.

Summer Fête

We held our Summer Fête and, with the weather on our side, we had a fabulous day. We were joined by Adderbury Village Morris dancers and Richard Deveraux sang throughout the afternoon. There was also a model railway on display and £100 prize money up for grabs, which was won by Marion, who is a resident here at Chacombe!

Royal Wedding Celebrations

We had lots of fun celebrating the royal wedding here at Chacombe Park. There were croissants, Buck's Fizz, a traditional buffet and everyone's eyes were fixed to the television watching the ceremony.

Gardening Has Begun!

Gardening Has Begun!

With the first seeds being sown and raised beds being turned over ready for the next batch of seeds, the gardening season has definitely began here at Chacombe Park.
