Activities at Brampton View Care Home

Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience, and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Nutrition and Hydration week 'Thirsty Thursday'

‘Thirsty Thursday’ Mocktail making. Today as part of nutrition and hydration week our residents got the chance to make their very own mock tails. They chose from a variety of fruit juices and flavoured drinks to make a drink for themselves and others to sample.

They discussed names for drinks and thought carefully about how they would market their creations. Cocktail umbrellas, fancy straws and glasses were all considered. Some of the creations were extremely popular and we are looking forward to enjoying this activity again!

We have also been busy decorating cakes to sell at our cake sale tomorrow for comic relief, some are also Easter themed!! We look forward to seeing you in your best pyjamas for tea and cake to raise money for comic relief.

Nutrition and Hydration week 'Talking Tea Party’

Our monthly residents meeting turned into our ‘talking tea party’ as part of nutrition and hydration week. Once a month residents gather in the lounge to discuss life at Brampton View and have their say about any compliments, concerns or suggestions they have. The heads of departments join them and we thoroughly enjoy chatting about our home.

However this month we surprised the residents at the meeting by turning it into a tea party as part of nutrition and hydration week, we had a special emphasis on food during the meeting and Head Chef Glenn spoke about menu changes coming up and what the residents wanted for their spring menu. Different snack suggestions for throughout the day were discussed and themed events.

The kitchen team put on another wonderful display of treats with special purée cakes and sandwiches to cater for all individuals in attendance.

Nutrition and Hydration week 'Brilliant Breakfasts'

A very busy Tuesday for us at Brampton View. We began the day with our ‘brilliant breakfast’ to mark nutrition and hydration week. The kitchen team prepared a breakfast buffet station containing all you could ever want for to start the day right. Residents tucked into fresh fruit, cooked bacon and sausages alongside cereals and eggs to order!

Head Chef Glenn spent time visiting residents to ask about their food preferences and what else they might like to see on the menu! To round off the day we have enjoyed ‘super supper snacks’ of cheese and biscuits, sausage rolls, cake and plenty more.

Tomorrow sees a new addition to our monthly residents meeting with a ‘talking tea party’ we are looking forward to seeing what delights our fabulous kitchen team will produce.

Nutrition and Hydration week 'Simply Smoothes'

To mark the beginning of nutrition and hydration week we hosted a ‘simply smoothie’ event! Our fabulous kitchen team put together a variety of smoothies for us to sample and give our feedback. The smoothies included strawberries and ice cream and mango and peaches.

We sampled each one and chose our favourites which will now become a feature around the home more often. The smoothies made us think of warmer days sitting in the garden with a cold smoothie and fresh fruit, we are looking forward to this becoming a reality.

Smoothies are a great way to stay hydrated and also get some of those all important vitamins into us. Tomorrow we are hosting a ‘brilliant breakfast’ to continue our nutrition and hydration week.

Mother’s Day fun with Fiona

We’ve had a wonderful Mother’s Day here at Brampton View. Residents spent the morning sharing stories of their mums and their favourite memories, lots included baking together in the kitchen and sharing a perfect mum cuddle!

Our afternoon was filled with live music from Fiona Harrison who shared music from all through the years and different genres with the theme of ladies and families. We enjoyed tea and fresh cream cakes during the music and a good song along too!

Thank you to those who have joined us throughout the day and wished our mums here a Happy Mother’s Day.

Another big thank you to all the Mums on our team who have spent the day making sure the residents have enjoyed themselves! We couldn’t do it without you all.

Celebrating Amazing Women

Today the residents, staff and visitors at Brampton View joined together to celebrate #InspireInclusion in recognition of International Women's Day. To imagine a gender equal world. A world free of bias, stereotypes, and discrimination. A world that's diverse, equitable, and inclusive. A world where difference is valued and celebrated.

Home Manager, Motshodiemang Masedi said “We’ve all had a wonderful day taking time to think about the very many brilliant women who have had such an impact on our lives, whether that was an historic figure or people in our own family. It was good to share our experiences, take stock and reflect on how much society has changed over the years.”

Brampton View and Barchester truly believe 'Together we can forge women's equality and step forward to show solidarity and support to all women.'
