Activities at Brampton View Care Home

Brampton View Care Home in Northampton is home to avid knitter Doreen. Doreen has been knitting in her spare time for most of her life and has recently taken to knitting baby blankets and hat and mitten sets.

The care home welcomed Deborah Hicks, Fundraising and Engagement Officer from Restore Northampton to meet Doreen as Doreen was keen to donate some of her recent completed sets to Restore Northampton’s Baby Boutique.

Deborah commented “Doreen’s items are absolutely beautiful. We will be proud to display them in our baby boutique. It is wonderful for the individuals that we support to know that someone is thinking about them.  It has been an honour to meet Doreen and I can’t wait to see what else she produces in the future.”

Restore Northampton is a local charity that offers services to individuals in the community including a food bank, baby boutique and coffee mornings.

Brampton View Care Home has built up excellent reputations within its local community, regularly holding events and activities for residents and surrounding neighbours. 

Brampton View Care Home, in Northampton have invited members of the local community to a series of free advice clinics with a local solicitor’s firm.

The series of clinics took place throughout June at Brampton View Care Home and gave guests the chance to meet impartial financial consultants who discussed important subjects such as will planning, power of attorney and inheritance and estate planning.

Michael Osborne from Borneo Martell Turner Coulston in Northampton led the series of clinics at Brampton View Care Home and was thrilled to meet the residents and members of the local community for the sessions. Michael provided a general overview each week for the subject topic as well as answering specific personal questions and tailoring advice for each individual.

Staff and residents at Brampton View Care Home in Northampton brewed up a storm for National Cream Tea Day on June 28th by hosting an afternoon tea party with live entertainment, a wonderful selection of baked treats and of course, lots of pots of tea.

Refusing to pick a side in the controversial debate of cream before jam for the Cornish tradition or jam before cream as part of the Devonshire tradition, Brampton View Care Home enjoyed homemade scones both ways, all washed down with a fes-tea-val of herbal and classic teas.

Residents and visitors tucked into the sweet and savoury goodies including cookies and cream cakes, all baked by talented head chef Glenn Coombs!

Mo Masedi, General Manager at Brampton View Care Home said: “I don’t think there is a better way to celebrate the arrival of summer than with a cream tea! The residents have loved having family and friends here today to help us enjoy a fantastic spread.  This is definitely one new tradition we’re going to be adopting!”

Sheila, resident at Brampton View Care Home commented: “We’ve all had so much fun today and the cream tea was absolutely delicious!  I absolutely love a cream tea so I’m all in favour of a national day to celebrate them!”

Staff and residents at Barchester’s Brampton View Care Home in Northampton have hosted another of their fabulous monthly Pudding Clubs. The idea behind the club is for everyone to come along for a cup of tea and a catch up while trying out different types of puddings – what a truly excellent idea! 

Residents and staff came up with the idea to launch the Pudding Club, each month they get together to talk about their favourite puddings, past and present, and decide what they are going to serve that month.  The home’s hospitality team helps the residents to prepare the puddings, both old-fashioned and new recipes, so everyone gets to try a range of different puds.  Family members, friends and members of the community are all invited to attend and bring puddings to share too, if they wish.

In June the Pudding Club met for the fourth time and Brampton View were delighted to experience a new type of cake – a cake pop! A cake pop is a layer of sponge rolled into a ball and baked with a lollipop stick in the bottom. Residents were then given the chance to decorate their own pop with chocolate and sprinkles before taste testing their work.  

General Manager, Mo Masedi, comments: “The Pudding Club is proving to be a huge success, our residents absolutely love it.  We are so lucky to have our hospitality team on board with this wonderful activity and have them involved in the process.  The club is going from strength to strength, we’re very much looking forward to the next session in July – everyone is welcome to join us, please check out our Facebook page for details.”

Dancing and singalongs were the order of the day at Brampton View Care Home in Northampton where residents were keen to get involved in World Music Day on June 21st.

La Fete de la Musique was first celebrated in France in 1982 when amateur and professional musicians performed on the streets of Paris.  Other countries adopted the same date to celebrate all different types of live music and the European Festival of Music soon became World Music Day as countries around the globe got on board.

Staff and residents at Brampton View care home decided hold an afternoon of live singing and dancing with local entertainer Steve O. The afternoon was full of everyone’s favourite music and plenty of joyful singing and dancing.

Emma Robinson the Activities Lead at Brampton View Care Home commented: “Our residents love to dance, sing and listen to music, so World Music Day is a fantastic excuse for us to play our favourite songs, let our hair down and have a bit of a boogie. Live entertainment is always great throughout the home as it brings such joy to all.”

Mo Masedi, General Manager at the home, said: “Our residents have had a great day enjoying all different kinds of music.  We have all been testing our music knowledge with our quiz which was so much fun, and then listening to our favourite songs and pieces of music – we have had all genres today from opera to hiphop, something for everyone!” 

You better beer-lieve that residents at Brampton View Care Home in Northampton, were more than hoppy to raise a glass, and sample some top craft ales, bitters and lagers, in celebration of National Beer Day on June 15th.

The hospitality team at Brampton View Care Home set up a bar for a real pub experience and brought in a range of brew-tiful British ales for residents to sample.  Residents and their visitors enjoyed a beer tasting and learning about the history of beer whilst they sampled the different craft ales, bitters and lagers.

National Beer Day is a day that the residents really enjoy, who doesn’t love a cold beer on a warm summer’s day!”
