Activities at Brampton View Care Home

Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience, and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Lucia’s Tiny Farm

Today we had a visit from Lucia’s Tiny Farm. We spent time with rabbits, guinea pigs, lizards, rats and a 5 month old puppy! Both residents & staff had a fantastic time with the animals and shared stories of pets and animal experiences they have had throughout their lives. The session was a success in putting a smile on many faces and something we will be repeating on a regular basis.

A visit from Greyhounds

Today we were visited by a company from Towcester who race Greyhounds. They provided us with a presentation about the life and care of racing greyhounds and all that’s involved in looking after them for the competitions. We had the pleasure of meeting two greyhounds, one who is currently racing and wining and one who is retiring. We had a fabulous time reminiscing about when we have been to the races and different tracks across the country and how racing has changed over time. We also had our session recorded as the greyhound racing company are having a documentary made about them, we are excited to see how it turns out.

Enjoying our Garden

We have been making the most of our wonderful garden space here at Brampton View. Today we enjoyed ice cream and drinks outside accompanied by our wonderful carers and head chef. We are finding nice ways to stay cool and participating in lots of storytelling about summers gone by!

Tickled Pink

Today we were treated to a Tickled Pink production of Wild Wild West. From the start it had us up and dancing! We sang our way through all the classic cowboy and western films such as seven brides for seven brothers, calamity jane and much more! It brought back many memories for us and we certainly loved getting involved with the story.

Sing and Shake with Sophie

This month we trialled a new activity ‘Sing & Shake with Sophie’ the activity involved singing and movement accompanied by a professional vocal coach to test our skills for a potential community choir. We had lots of fun singing scales and seeing how long we could hold notes for. We surprised ourselves with what we were capable of! We also guess the tune and played instruments along to backing music. We ended the session with some dancing to our favourite songs. There were smiles all around and we have been practising the scales since the session!

Box-ercise

Friday exercise classes took a different turn today when Michelle gave everyone a pair of boxing gloves, we certainly won’t be professional anytime soon but the laughter was contagious!
