Activities at Brampton View Care Home

Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience, and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Birthday Celebrations

90 OR 21 AGAIN? BIRTHDAY CELEBRATIONS FOR LOCAL CARE HOME RESIDENT

Celebrations have been in full swing at Brampton View Care Home, as one of its residents reaches her 90th Birthday!

Pat was joined by staff, relatives, friends and other residents as she reached her 90th Birthday. However Pat had decided the previous week that she didn’t want to be 90 this year and would like to revisit her 21st year. To receive her wish Head Chef Glenn Coombs created a birthday cake to mark Pat turning ’21 again’

The cake contained a photo of Pat and her favourite flowers of roses in icing. Pat, her friends and family tucked into the cake at a birthday lunch in her honour.

Pat commented “I have been thoroughly spoilt by everyone and the home has gone to so much effort to celebrate my birthday. It was nice to be 21 again for a few days but now I will return to my age of 90 and enjoy it with style!”

Mo Masedi, General Manager of Barchester Brampton View Care Home added: “We’re delighted to be celebrating a truly remarkable woman in Pat as she reaches this amazing milestone. Pat is such a wonderful lady and we are pleased to have her with us and be able to celebrate her life and make her wishes come true.”

Rabbit , Lucia Zoo , , , Bearded Dragon

Zoo comes to Brampton View

Once again our visit from Lucia's Tiny Farm has left us all smiling and amazed at these incredible animals.

Lucia visits Brampton View once a month with a variety of animals, this time around our visitors included a chicken, a puppy, bunny rabbits, guinea pigs and much more!

Both staff and residents eagerly awaited cuddles with their favourite little friends and Lucia spent time informing us on how to care for them all.

Conversations soon turned to pets we have had before and what we would liked to have had. Many memories were shared of pets throughout our lives and how much they meant to us.

We had a fantastic morning with Lucia and her amazing animals and we look forward to their visit next month.

ST PATRICK’S DAY GETS THE GREEN LIGHT AT LOCAL CARE HOME

A jam packed day here at Brampton View today! We began our St Patrick’s celebrations with a visit from Kerry School of Irish Dance who delighted us with their performances.

Many residents commented that it had been years since they had seen any Irish dancing and were blown away by the talent from such young adults and children.

We then enjoyed an Irish themed lunch from our wonderful kitchen team with a little tipple of Guinness.

Carole and Peter of Zing brought our day to a close with an afternoon of party music accompanied with Irish decorated cupcakes and themed ice cream sundaes.

Our themed events are a big part of our varied life enrichment programme here at Brampton View. If you would like to join us for our next event then please get in touch. We would love to welcome you.

Barchester Foundation's Nurture ‘Nature Nostalgia’

We recently had the pleasure of presenting Lucy Knight from BareFooted Arts with a cheque for £2500.00 towards the innovative ‘Movement, Music and Reminiscence’ project ‘Nature Nostalgia’ at Delapré Abbey

Nature Nostalgia, is a cross arts & nature project, designed to engage underserved older individuals in outdoor creative activities that encourage and capture reminiscence of childhood experiences of nature play, in partnership with Delapré Abbey, Royal & Derngate Northampton and Age UK Northamptonshire.

The project will bring together a group of 25 participants 60yrs+ who have been identified by Age UK and their social prescribing strand, as being lonely or socially isolated, to participate in a weekly nature-based cross arts activity for 13-weeks in a beautiful outside space at Delapré Abbey. Participants will also be drawn in from 2 local History societies, as well as promoted via Royal & Derngate and Delapré Abbey’s networks.

Aiming to create an immersive and therapeutic experience for older individuals by combining movement, music and nature to uncover memories and reminisce about childhood experiences. It will promote physical activity, mental well-being and foster a sense of nostalgia and connection with nature and each other, enhancing quality of life and stimulating meaningful conversations among peers.

The grant had been awarded by Barchester’s Charitable Foundation, a charity that helps older people and adults with a disability or mental health problems across England, Scotland and Wales by offering grants to help people connect or re-connect with others in their local community.

Motshodiemang Masedi, General Manager at Brampton View care home and Activities Coordinator; Emma Robinson met with BareFooted Director, Lucy to find more about this this innovative older peoples’ social project and see how the residents and staff at Brampton View care home can offer further local support.

Lucy said “The Barchester Foundation’s donation has been a wonderful boost to the launch of this project. Getting out in nature is vital for older people, we’re very excited to see how ‘Nature Nostalgia’ benefits the overall quality of life and well-being of its participants.” Bookings are now open for the FREE 13 week activity starting in April.
