Activities at Braeburn Lodge Care Home

Our dedicated activities team are constantly dreaming up new and wonderful ways to support and stimulate the residents we look after. From trips to crafts, parties to skittles, musical performances and quizzes, we include something for everyone and pride ourselves on including everyone into the fun. We have a brilliant team of volunteers who help us to deliver more trips, support us at events and pop in for a cup of tea and chat. We have pet therapy at least once per week (sometimes twice!) and we take advantage of every school break by holding large scale events that we can invite families with children to. We have been developing ties with our neighbours since we first opened and thanks to this, we have successfully brought together our residents with local churches, choirs, Brownies groups, and schools. Whatever your interests are, here at Braeburn, there's something for everyone.

Life at Braeburn Lodge Care Home

History of Wall's icecream

Residents across our homes had a fantastic time during a special live virtual event in celebration on National Ice Cream Day. Wall’s team took us on a great journey through history, sharing fascinating details about the brand since its launch in 1922. We learned about major innovations such as the introduction of Mr Whippy, Cornetto, Viennetta, Twister, and Carte d'Or.

Residents were treated to a singalong to Cornetto classic ads, an interactive quiz about fun Wall’s facts and best-of-all, an ice-cream tasting session. It was a delightful experience for everyone, especially our ice-cream lovers.

Dogs Trust

Across of homes residents had a fantastic time during a special live virtual event, led by Jennifer and Emily from Dogs Trust, the UK's largest dog welfare charity. Jennifer and Emily took us on a journey to discover the rich history of Dogs Trust and their facilities.

Using captivating video and photo footage, our residents were able to explore rehoming centres and learn more about the highest level of welfare offered there. It was a delightful experience for everyone, especially our dog lovers.

Special Yoga for Special People

After a much-anticipated wait, our lovely residents were finally introduced to a new "armchair" yoga regime. Cindy Lee, our new Yoga instructor has over 30 years of experience working within Special Need schools and Care homes, preparing, and adapting her exercises to fit in within the needs of residents.

During our first session at Braeburn Lodge our wonderful residents were treated to a light workout consisting of arms and leg stretches, facial and hand massages, vocal breathing techniques and a little bit of relaxation.

It is safe to say our residents thoroughly enjoyed today's activity and cannot wait to work out with Cindy once again in a couple of weeks.

The big Help Out at Braeburn Lodge

In tribute to His Majesty the King's public service, The Big Help Out campaign was introduced this year as a way of bringing local communities together to create a lasting volunteering legacy, starting from the Coronation weekend! As part of this wonderful campaign Braeburn Lodge welcomed the lovely Scouts from Deeping Explorers for a very productive morning full of gardening.

The weather may have not been the best, although some of our residents chose to participate in this exciting event by sitting in the gardens and chatting to the children as they worked hard as a team.

Thanks to the very talented Scouts our gardens had a wonderful spruce over, together with lots of new plant pots and much needed weeding.

Braeburn Celebrates the King’s Coronation with a Bang!

Wow .. what an exciting weekend we all had! All residents and staff at Braeburn Lodge came together to celebrate the King’s Coronation through various activities and parties.

First, we started off by decorating the whole home using the handmade décor created by our lovely residents’ weeks before the Coronation. Then, we held a mini party in all four units of our home, whereby our residents watched the Coronation Live on the big screens while indulging on some Tea & Cake. Later, we held a big celebratory Lunch in the gardens with friends and family, saluting our new King from far. And finally on the last of the weekend we enjoyed an hour of wonderful live music, organised as a special gift to all our residents at Braeburn Lodge!

As quoted by one of our residents .. “I am a very lucky Man! I was alive for King George’s Coronation; I was watched the Queen’s Coronation live in London and now I am thrilled to be part of our new King’s celebrations.”

Animal Petting at Braeburn Lodge

Today we invited a new Animal Petting team to our home for an exciting morning full of beautiful pets. Animal therapy has proven to be a successful form of treatment within the care sector and is often a popular event implemented into our monthly activity planners on a regular basis.

Most of our residents at Braeburn Lodge love animals .. especially those who had kept cats and dogs back in their own homes. You will often see a resident carrying their own robotic Pet around the home. However today was a very exciting day as our lovely residents had the chance of cuddling so many different furry creatures.
