Activities at Boroughbridge Manor Care Home
Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.
Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience, and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Shelbie Taylor
Hi my name is Shelbie, I am proud to be the Head of Activities here at Boroughbridge Manor.
I have worked at Boroughbridge Manor since 2017, I love making our residents smile. I get great satisfaction knowing I have made someone’s day better!
I have created a wonderful culture within Boroughbridge Manor and we work together to give our residents the best possible experiences.
We are here to ensure that residents enjoy an environment that is both stimulating and socially active. We ensure the team knows each residents' preferences, so that we can deliver a person-centred program of events and activities. We are extremely fortunate to have our very own minibus, we love taking the residents out for coffee, shopping and lots of fun trips out whether that be to the museum or the seaside.
Activities and Events Partnerships
As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies
Life at Boroughbridge Manor Care Home

Walk through a landscape
Residents across our services had a lovely time joining Emily and Marie-Therese from the Wallace Collection, for a virtual introduction to Reubens' Rainbow Landscape.
Residents truly enjoyed the sensory walk through one of the museum’s most famous landscape paintings.
Everyone who joined had a wonderful experience and can’t wait to put their creative skills to the test by painting some landscapes of our their in the coming days!

Chitter Chatter Coffee Morning
we were delighted to hold our first Chitter Chatter Coffee Morning as we welcomed our residents to join the team for a morning natter over a selection of tasty cakes and refreshing beverages.
Our coffee morning event was inspired by Lauren Mann the founder of Farrow Friends and her championing of companionship for those who are struggling with loneliness and isolation.
Recently Lauren won a competition to design a limited edition tin for Nescafé in support of the princes trust. Speaking of her winning design 'The Silver Lining' Lauren said 'I want my design to encourage us to connect with those who may be lonely and be the silver lining to their day'

A Reel Treat for Our Residents!
A contingent of our residents and colleagues ventured to The Crown Hotel Boroughbridge for a delightful Fish Friday feast at our local eatery!
The classic British tradition of fish and chips is truly unparalleled. We are immensely grateful to the Crown Hotel for their warm reception and hospitality. It was a wonderful experience for our residents.

World Opera Day
Arias filled the air at Boroughbridge Manor Care Home in Boroughbridge, where residents enthusiastically participated in World Opera Day
Staff and residents at Boroughbridge Manor were delighted to welcome the wonderful Metso-Soprano, Emma Carrington!
Emma an accomplished soloist performer made her Royal Opera House debut playing the Valkyrie Rossweisse (Die Walküre) in Keith Warner’s production of Wagner’s Ring Cycle conducted by Antonio Pappano in Autumn 2018 as one of her many stage accomplishments.

Home have fun hiding 'Ghosts & Pumpkins' for Halloween trail
Boroughbridge Manor have been having fantastic fun hiding ghosts and pumpkins all over the Boroughbridge High Street for local children to find. The staff and residents decided to challenge local children to find 6 ghosts and 6 pumpkins that are hiding in different shops and businesses along the town’s high street.
Children have to write down the number of each pumpkin and ghost and where they have been found in order to take part in the Halloween Hunt and will be rewarded with sweet treats by the home.

Hello October
We spotted the bright blue skies and seized the opportunity to head for a walk into town!
Joy couldn’t believe it was the beginning of October, with the warmth from the sunshine beaming down on us as we stopped off for a coffee. We spent time looking through shop windows and enjoyed seeing what the town of Boroughbridge had to offer.
