Activities at Boroughbridge Manor Care Home

Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience, and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Shelbie Taylor

Head of Activities

Hi my name is Shelbie, I have recently been promoted to Head of Activities here at Boroughbridge Manor.

I have worked at Boroughbridge Manor for 7 years, I love making our residents smile. I get great satisfaction knowing I have made someone’s day better!

Myself, Leoni and Suzanne have created a wonderful culture within Boroughbridge Manor and we work together to give our residents the best possible experiences.

We are here to ensure that residents enjoy an environment that is both stimulating and socially active. We ensure the team knows each residents' preferences, so that we can deliver a person-centred program of events and activities. We are extremely fortunate to have our very own minibus, we love taking the residents out for coffee, shopping and lots of fun trips out whether that be to the museum or the seaside.

Happy Yorkshire Day

We’ve had a reyt good time celebrating Yorkshire day!

We hosted a Yorkshire themed day with a chuffin’ great afternoon tea’ where food and drinks from the area were served, such as Yorkshire curd tarts, parkin, lots of spice and of course a nice ‘brew’ Yorkshire style. Residents enjoyed a traditional roast dinner with all the trimmings, prepared by our talented chef, Rob.

Eat Ice Cream For Daily Happiness

Today we took a trip out to Brymor Ice Cream Parlour for some delicious ice cream,  the weather held up which was even better!

Residents indulged in traditional favourites from Scrumptious Strawberry to more exotic flavours such as Black Cherry Whim Wham!

A fantastic day was had by all!

At Boroughbridge Manor, residents honoured Henry David Thoreau by taking part in National Simplicity Day. The day recognises taking time to de-stress and unwind. Residents enjoyed a spot of pampering and mindfulness colouring whilst others opted for a cup of tea in the garden.

Wimbledon 2023

We had a fun time following the annual Wimbledon tennis tournaments so far.

We’ve decorated our home with themed flags and banners, and our residents today have taken part in our mini tennis championship with our transportable tennis net, allowing all the residents to be able to take part!

Strawberry Picking

We had a lovely morning out picking strawberries at Fruity Berry Fruit Farm PYO YO7 3DB.

Resident May told us how she really enjoyed herself and that she used to sneak into her local fruit farm to taste the delicious strawberries!

Fruity Berry Fruit Farm is located in the Yorkshire countryside where you can pick strawberries easily on raised guttering which is perfect and ideal for all of our residents here at the home. We had a fantastic morning!

Virtual walking tour of Mayfair

Residents across our services had a fantastic time joining Mandy Morrow for a virtual walking tour to learn about the ‘Herstory’ of Mayfair. The Mayfair of Nightingales may be long gone but it still holds a 20th century charm. Birthplace to the late Queen Elizabeth II, home to one of WWII's most decorated female war heroes and a tale of a wealthy Aristocrat and one of France's favourite designers.

We were delighted to take a walk down memory lane and discover stories from one of London's most iconic areas.  The experience was truly enjoyed by all.
