Activities at Boroughbridge Manor Care Home

Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience, and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Shelbie Taylor

Head of Activities

Hi my name is Shelbie, I have recently been promoted to Head of Activities here at Boroughbridge Manor.

I have worked at Boroughbridge Manor for 7 years, I love making our residents smile. I get great satisfaction knowing I have made someone’s day better!

Myself, Leoni and Suzanne have created a wonderful culture within Boroughbridge Manor and we work together to give our residents the best possible experiences.

We are here to ensure that residents enjoy an environment that is both stimulating and socially active. We ensure the team knows each residents' preferences, so that we can deliver a person-centred program of events and activities. We are extremely fortunate to have our very own minibus, we love taking the residents out for coffee, shopping and lots of fun trips out whether that be to the museum or the seaside.

We took a trip out to our sister home Leeming Bar Grange for an Easter eggstravaganza!

We were treated to a delicious Hot Cross Brunch which included a variety of Hot Cross Buns, washed down with a lovely glass of Bucks Fizz or Peach Bellini followed by the nation’s favourite, Fish & Chips

Residents enjoyed getting to know one another as they sang golden oldies together, it was such a fantastic atmosphere!

Sunshine, Friends & Smiles

We wanted to make the most of the sunshine this afternoon so we decided to go out into the garden and soak up some rays!

Residents enjoyed a good natter, cup of tea & snacks as they played eye spy and listened to their favourite summer time music.

Mum's the word

Residents at Barchester Healthcare’s Boroughbridge Manor care home, in Boroughbridge, celebrated Mother’s Day with visits and phone calls from family members near and far. The home was beautifully decorated with fresh flowers and bunting for the occasion.  Staff at Boroughbridge Manor arranged an afternoon tea party, music, flowers and games for all of the ladies to enjoy.  Head chef, Rob prepared a special buffet menu and a scrumptious black forest gateau to mark the day.

General Manager, Mark Hurst said: “We’ve all had a really lovely weekend celebrating the wonderful women in the home.  It has been so good to see family members who were able to visit in person and to have phone calls with those who are further away.  Our residents enjoyed a fantastic lunch and then a delicious afternoon tea prepared by our brilliant Activities Coordinator. Days like these are so special.”

St Patrick's Day

Residents and staff at Boroughbridge Manor in Boroughbridge celebrated all things Irish for St Patrick’s Day this week. The home was decorated with shamrocks, balloons and Irish themed decorations.

Held on 17th March, Saint Patrick's Day actually observes the death of St Patrick, the patron saint of Ireland, but the day has come to be a huge celebration of Irish heritage and culture.

Staff and residents at the home marked the day by (a day early) making shamrock decorations, singing some Irish words and phrases, learning Irish dances, listening to Irish music. Head chef Tony prepared a fantastic Irish spread with Irish stew as the main all washed down with Guinness or an Irish whiskey as we danced to Michael Flatley and the Riverdance.

Residents enjoy return of Crufts Dog Show

Residents and staff at Boroughbridge Manor care home in Boroughbridge are loving the return of the world’s largest dog show, Crufts. Residents at the home are all keen animal lovers and are delighted that Crufts is back on our TVs.

Canine fans at Boroughbridge Manor have been glued to their screens to watch the pups being put through their paces.  They have been avidly watching the judging of all the different breeds and waiting to see which dogs have been selected to go through to the next round of judging.  But best of all they love the agility competitions where the dogs all seem to have so much fun!
