Activities at Boroughbridge Manor Care Home

Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.

Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience, and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Shelbie Taylor

Head of Activities

Hi my name is Shelbie, I am proud to be the Head of Activities here at Boroughbridge Manor.

I have worked at Boroughbridge Manor since 2017, I love making our residents smile. I get great satisfaction knowing I have made someone’s day better!

I have created a wonderful culture within Boroughbridge Manor and we work together to give our residents the best possible experiences.

We are here to ensure that residents enjoy an environment that is both stimulating and socially active. We ensure the team knows each residents' preferences, so that we can deliver a person-centred program of events and activities. We are extremely fortunate to have our very own minibus, we love taking the residents out for coffee, shopping and lots of fun trips out whether that be to the museum or the seaside.

Activities and Events Partnerships

As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies

Life at Boroughbridge Manor Care Home

World Book Day

We were delighted to welcome back the children from the Boroughbridge Primary School and Nursery for World Book Day!  The day promotes reading for pleasure and also sees participants dressing up as their favourite characters or embracing a literature theme.  This year the children from the school were dressed as adjectives with themes including colours, stripes, spots and more.

The children had a great time listening to two stories which put a modern spin on the classic fairy-tale of Goldilocks and the three bears and Snow White and the seven dwarves, with 'Goldilocks in space' and 'Snow White in space'

Centenarian Sister's Together

It was wonderful to welcome Hetty's sister, Mabel for lunch today as they both enjoyed their fish and chips.

The lunch was made all the more special by the incredible ages they share, Hetty will be 105 this summer and her younger sister Mabel is 100.

It was truly heartwarming to these centenarian siblings spending time with one another.

Valentine's Day

Our home was filled with flowers, cards, sweets and live music in celebration of St Valentine’s Day.

Staff and residents celebrated the day of love by holding a glitzy valentine’s day disco with fizz and strawberries, as we welcomed back Rebekah Austin  who delivered a stunning musical performance filled with classic ballads.

This was followed by a stunning three course meal consisting of a Mexican prawn cocktail, sirloin steak or salmon served with new potatoes and seasoned vegetables followed by delicious strawberry heart cheesecake.

Preparing for Valentine's Day

Our residents are filled with excitement as we have beautifully decorated the home for Valentine's Day on Friday.

We will be celebrating the occasion with a special performance by Rebekah Austin, followed by a delightful meal of steak and chips. The celebrations would not be complete without the addition of balloons and flowers.
