Activities at Boroughbridge Manor Care Home
Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.
Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience, and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Shelbie Taylor
Hi my name is Shelbie, I am proud to be the Head of Activities here at Boroughbridge Manor.
I have worked at Boroughbridge Manor since 2017, I love making our residents smile. I get great satisfaction knowing I have made someone’s day better!
I have created a wonderful culture within Boroughbridge Manor and we work together to give our residents the best possible experiences.
We are here to ensure that residents enjoy an environment that is both stimulating and socially active. We ensure the team knows each residents' preferences, so that we can deliver a person-centred program of events and activities. We are extremely fortunate to have our very own minibus, we love taking the residents out for coffee, shopping and lots of fun trips out whether that be to the museum or the seaside.
Activities and Events Partnerships
As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies
Life at Boroughbridge Manor Care Home

Sun, Smiles and Sweet Treats
We have enjoyed a delightful day here at home, taking full advantage of the warm April sunshine.
We began the day with a walk into town for a cup of tea at 'Plenty' in Boroughbridge.
We observed the world passing by and engaged in pleasant conversations with passers by.

Community Professional Brunch
Our home recently launched and held a new networking brunch at the home.
The event featured representatives from Right at Home Harrogate, Dementia Forward, Jenny Ruth Workshop, St James Church, and other local organizations.
The brunch provided an opportunity for attendees to discuss ways to benefit the community and be of greater assistance to those living in isolation or needing care support through each others community events and activities.

Mothers Day High Tea
Residents at the home began celebrating Mother’s Day in earnest with a stunning afternoon tea for our resident Mums and relatives. The home was beautifully decorated with fresh flowers and bunting for the occasion.
Staff at Boroughbridge Manor led by our wonderful head chef, Karen. Delivered a stunning High Tea featuring freshly made cakes, pastries and savoury treats for our guests.

Evelyn's 100th Birthday Celebrations
100 Years of Evelyn!
We would like to wish our wonderful resident Evelyn a very Happy 100th Birthday!
She was delighted to receive a card from the King and had a wonderful day celebrating with her loved ones, fellow residents, and our colleagues in the home.

Red Nose Day
Red Nose Day brought joy throughout the home, adding a touch of silliness and fun to our residents' day.
The staff dressed in red, residents wore red noses, and together they crafted and enjoyed fresh fruit skewers while having a great time decorating Red Nose Day themed cakes, merging the celebration with Nutrition and Hydration Week.

St. Patrick's Day
Residents and staff at the home celebrated all things Irish for St Patrick’s Day this week. The home was decorated with shamrocks and everyone dressed in green to mark the day.
Held on March 17th, Saint Patrick's Day actually observes the death of St Patrick, the patron saint of Ireland, but the day has come to be a huge celebration of Irish heritage and culture.
Staff and residents at the home marked the day by enjoying a rousing sing-a-long with local favourite performers Kim and Dave, listening to Irish music and sampling a range of Irish beers. Head chef Karen Garbutt prepared a fantastic Irish spread with Irish stew, braised sausage and sticky Irish toffee pudding all washed down with Guinness or an Irish whiskey.
