Activities at Ashchurch View Care Home

Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Painting

Residents and staff are always up for a challenge. This time they’ve accepted the challenge of painting their own canvases. And the final results are amazing!

Crafts in our café

We welcomed Rachael and Anja who are currently fundraising for Parkinson’s UK and Heart  foundation to hold a variety of Crafts in our café. Residents got very creative and enjoyed trying out all the “fancy machines”; there was choice of making lavender bags, bookmarks or making pompoms to go in small vases. It was lovely to see many residents taking part and enjoying learning new skills.

Animal Therapy

We’ve met the gorgeous and very soft brothers Strawberry and Raspberry who have come to visit all the way from Cheltenham Animal Shelter to spend time with our residents and staff. Residents were thrilled to meet these two lovely rabbits as they went from room to room  and in the communal areas, providing companionship and lots of reminisce.

Fun in the Garden

Residents enjoy spending time in the garden in the fresh air. Plenty of refreshments, walks, chats, laugher, making sure the bird feeders are topped up, watering the plants as is so much needed in the warm weather and see one of the team’s and residents achievements… the beautiful sunflowers that everyone has been taking care of; they look gorgeous!

Summer Fete

Thanks to everyone who have supported our summer fete, as it was a great success! To all volunteers, staff, residents, relatives and friends! It was lovely to see so many families, visitors and residents coming together for the very first summer fete in the last 3 years. There was many stall holders from the local community, cakes, face painting, games, a BBQ, a variety of entertainment, refreshments and a raffle. So much fun and a great day for everyone.

Boat trip with The Willow Trust

We’ve had an amazing time relaxing on the Willow Trust Boat with all the amazing volunteers. The weather was just perfect and everyone enjoyed a picnic, fresh air and purely relax. Residents commented “it felt so good that it was like having a holiday!”
