Activities at Ashchurch View Care Home

Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Lots of Fun at the Memory Cafe

The Tewkesbury Day Centre and Ashchurch View Memory Cafe has been running for several months now and this month it was the Day Centre's turn to host. Ashchurch View's General Manager Sam went along to the cafe today with senior care assistant Janet and residents Pam and Peter. Ashchurch View's Head Chef John made some delicious home-made cakes for us to take along and these were definitely enjoyed by all!

Thank you to the Day Centre's team for their wonderful version of "Name that Tune" it really did make us laugh. The cafe is relaxed and very friendly, it will be Ashchurch Views turn to host next month on Wednesday 25th October from 2pm and everyone is welcome.

Musical Talent

Our talented resident Lynn plays the piano beautifully, we are so fortunate to have Lynn playing in the Ashchurch View reception area.  It is really important for residents to continue with their interests and with Lynn playing the paino we too are able to enjoy the music.

Celebrating Amy's 10 Years at Barchester

The Ashchurch View team got together to congratulate and thank Amy Clifford for her 10 years' service for Barchester Healthcare as the home's hostess and such an important member of the team. Amy is wonderful with the residents, knowing all their likes and dislikes, she is so compassionate. Lumi. Peri Deputy Manager of Ashchurch View was delighted to present Amy with her Barchester Pin, gift voucher and a bouquet flowers. Head Chef, John and the hospitality team made a celebratory cake and other treats for all the team. Many Congratulations Amy.

Boat Trip on the Severn

Ashchurch View residents had a wonderful day out yesterday on the water with The Willow Trust.  This amazing local charity has two fully accessible boats that offer those with a disability or serious illness the opportunity to enjoy a therapeutic boat trip.

Residents enjoyed taking the helm, looking at the stunning Gloucestershire countryside and great company. We were delighted to spend this trip with residents and team members from Badgeworth Court and Tewkesbury Fields and what a wonderful opportunity for us all to get together.  Thank you so much to The Willow Trust and the wonderful volunteers who make these trips possible.

Musical Memory Cafe

Today we welcomed Rob also known as Piano Hedgehog who performed at the Ashchurch View Memory Cafe. Rob played well known tunes and then we all sang along to classics including Moon River, I Can't Help Falling in Love with You and I Only Want to be with You.

Music and songs are so important for those living with dementia, often the music helps evoke memories, gives an opportunity to express feelings and overall gives a real sense of well-being. After all the singing, dancing and toe tapping we all enjoyed delicious cakes made by our hospitality team and a nice cup of tea!

A Colourful Welcome

The Ashchurch View team have worked so hard to create such a stunning display at the front of the home. Residents are so enjoying the array of colour, variety of flowers and the scents are wonderful. It is a pleasure to walk up to our reception. Thank you to Brendan and Pat for not only the display to the front of Ashchurch View but also our courtyard and all around the home.
