Activities at Ashchurch View Care Home

Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Valentines Floral Demonstration for Residents From Master Florist

Ashchurch View residents had a fantastic time joining Kathryn Delve Master FLorist for a Valentine’s-inspired live virtual flower arranging demonstration.  Kathryn shared brilliant and creative ways to decorate our tables with beautiful flowers.  Residents put their skills to the test and followed along with putting together some amazing creations of our own. Our residents truly enjoyed the experience and the end results look beautiful.

Magnificent Birds of Prey

This week we were delighted to welcome Mumbles, Avalon and Saxon along with their owner Jenny from Wren Birds of Prey.

Ashchurch View residents so enjoyed Jenny's last visit with her wonderful birds they requested for her to bring along some of the larger birds.  The first one we met was Mumbles an Indian Eagle Owl, to see her so close was fascinating. Mumbles striking orange eyes identify her as being one bread of owl that is not nocturnal. In the wild the Eagle Owl lives an average of 10 years, Mumbles is looking amazing at 18! Avalon is a falcon distinctive as they wear a hood, when not wearing the hood they become very focal and active as they are ready to chase their prey. The hood keeps the bird calm and we learnt this is where the term "hoodwinked" comes from. The final bird of prey was buzzard, Saxon a hawk bred in captivity.

This was such an interesting visit greatly enjoyed by residents and family members who came along.

The Magic of Christmas

It has been a very special Christmas here at Ashchurch View with a wonderful variety of events and activities - thank you so much to Sarah our Activities Coordinator for all the organising and to all the team here we couldn’t have done it without you all.  Father Christmas didn't just visit us once, but twice! Father Christmas arrived on his sleigh courtesy of the Tewkesbury Rotary Club and on Christmas Day he took time out with his helpers to personally deliver gifts to all the residents.

This Christmas has certainly proved you are never too old to believe in the magic of Christmas.......
