Activities at Arbour Court Care Home

Our specialist activities staff are committed to organising a variety of activities and events for all residents and the local community to get involved in, including trips out to local places of interest in our minibus, visits from entertainers and musicians and small group and individual activities in quiet yet stimulating environments. It is important to us that each individual who we support can get as much from these as possible, so we try our best to arrange activities that reflect resident individual interests as best as possible, and encourage them to participate in any way they can. We also encourage relatives to join with activities and events as often as they can.

Life at Arbour Court Care Home

Forget-me-not

The pandemic has impacted many throughout lockdown, and close to home Kelly Tatton, General Manager at Arbour Court received some sad news that her best Friend had been diagnosed with Breast Cancer, whilst she was having treatment she had to self-isolate so she wanted to contribute something to her local community.

Tracey generously despite her own challenges created a ‘Forget me not board’ with the idea staff and residents could pay tribute to residents who had passed away since the start of the global pandemic and staff have planted a flower in each individuals memory.  We are sure you will agree that this is a beautiful idea.

Home join virtual Care Awards

The Barchester Care Awards this year were a little different and were held virtually due to the global pandemic allowing all homes to join the ceremony from the comfort of their own homes as individuals were recognised for their contribution.  Residents and colleagues at Arbour Court were delighted to support Ludi Caballero who had been named as divisional winner just missing out being crowned National winner. Ludi was joined on the day by her family who also work in the home.  She's still a winner and the home are immensely proud!

The good life!

Residents of Arbour Court have been busy growing their own plants as part of the homes gardening club and life enrichment programme.  Resident, Bob didn’t let the recent damp weather as he took to the garden to enjoy a rare warmer day.  Keen gardener, Bob is at his happiest in the garden and his family have provided a number of gardening activities to keep him active and busy.

Mini Hero's

Whilst shielding at the height of the pandemic, staff night nurse Christine Morton kept herself busy creating wonderful gifts for the children of her colleagues, whose children she affectionately refers to as ‘mini heroes’.

Upon her return laden with the gifts it was of way of recognising the children who have had to adapt to many changes including long periods from their school friends and seeing their parents support Residents in long tiring shifts.   The beautiful handmade dolls clothes and blankets were left for her colleagues to choose from to take home to their little ones.   The doll kindly donated was won by nurse, Gill Dyson after her name was drawn from the hat.  Everyone would like to say a massive thank you to Christine for her kindness and generous gifts
