Activities at Adlington Manor Care Home

Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Lynne Bowler

Activities Coordinator

I joined the activities team at Adlington Manor in May 2017. Previously, I have worked as a tree surgeon and have had heavy involvement with the Guides and Brownies. I love participating in activities with residents, whether that's by driving the minibus on trips outside the home, or by engaging in themed days.

I am passionate about my role and especially the challenge of coming up with new ways to engage as many residents as possible in our activities here.

Activities and Events Partnerships

As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies

Life at Adlington Manor Care Home

Wallace Collection

Our homes had a fantastic time joining members of the Wallace Collection for an amazing sensory session.

During the live virtual experience, our residents explored one of the museum’s most beautiful Dutch flower paintings and learnt new drawing techniques.

We cannot wait to put our creative skills to a test and produce beautiful paintings of our own.

Everyone enjoyed the lovely talk, we all had lots of fun and it’s given us plenty of ideas.

BBQ fun

Although the weather is blue, residents at Adlington Manor enjoyed a beach themed day lots of ice cream and ice lolli's to go round.

Residents enjoyed a selection of BBQ treats prepared by the homes hospitality team, accompanied by a refreshing glass of pimms.

Wedded bliss!

Love is in the air at Adlington Manor as we celebrated Howard and Hilary’s wedding anniversary, 54 years together!

The happy couple enjoyed a delicious homemade cake with a glass of wine to toast this milestone as Howard shared his secrets to a long marriage and how they had first met!

Congratulations to the happy couple from everyone here at the home.

National Rum Day

On Tuesday the 16th August Adlington Manor celebrated National rum day dressed as pirates.  Everyone enjoyed a fun filled day with a variety of themed activities before enjoying a pirate themed lunch especially prepared by the homes hospitality team.

Going ape for bananas!

Residents and staff went bananas yesterday as we celebrated banana split day, there was lots of ice-cream to go around and everyone enjoyed these delicious treats!

Musical mystery tour

Our homes had a brilliant time with curator Sarah Deters as she took us on a virtual ‘Music Through the Ages’ tour of St Cecilia’s Hall: Concert Room and Music Museum.

Our residents were thrilled to discover weird and wonderful musical instruments, hear their unusual sounds, and find out how instruments have changed over the last 500 years.

The virtual live event explored the world-renown collection of musical instruments on display at St Cecilia’s Hall, Scotland’s oldest concert hall.
