Activities at Wimborne Care Home
Our activities team are great at building the activities programme around the likes and interests of the people we care for. Ensuring that our social events offer fun and adventure is part of the ethos of our home; it’s important that those we support can enjoy an active and social lifestyle. Of course, there will always be those who prefer peace and quiet, and in these instances, a cup of tea and a chat are always welcomed.
Zoe Freeman
I have been working in care since 2019 and love the industry. I came from working on cruise ships and running events and activities there which has set me up to be a successful activities coordinator in care. You will never see me without a smile on my face and always bring my fun and bubbly personality to my job. My favourite part of my job is making people cheerful and help make their wishes come true to show people that age is just a number and we can have fun no matter what!

Life at Wimborne Care Home
Garden Centre Trip
One of our favourite trips of the month is heading to Stanstead House and garden centre. We all enjoy the country drive to this lovely Manor House and then enjoy seeing all the seasonal plants in the garden centre and finishing off with a slice of scrumptious cake and cup of tea! We are looking forward to our next visit.
Mad Hatters café experience
We grabbed our rain coats and umbrellas and headed out on our weekly mini bus, the rain wasn’t going to stop us enjoying our trip out. All the locals on Hayling Island rave about a wonderful little café called Matt Hatters so we thought we had to go and see it for ourselves and it did not disappoint. The activities coordinator Zoe and maintenance man Gary got some of our residents together and set off to discover this quaint café. There was endless cakes to choose from and enjoyed the wonderful hospitality of the staff. We all enjoyed drinking our hot drinks out of delicate china cups and indulged in their rich cakes. We already can’t wait to go back.
Saxophone and Canape night
Our big evening event for this month was a night full of fabulous music and indulgent food. We were joined by the talented Hannah as she used her skilled fingers to play multiple tunes on the saxophone and take us through many different decades with songs. Our head chef Hayden prepared some delicious canapes from vol-au-vent’s to devils eggs and topping of the night with a lovely glass of wine or two. We were joined by many of our family members and friends as well as some new people from the community to come along and enjoy this special night.
Colour Our Care Home
Here at Wimborne Care Home we have been delivering colouring in cards for our local school, Mengham Infant School. The children will be colouring the care home cards in and then returning their masterpieces to our home for our residents to judge the winners!
Valentines Day
We had a day full of love, first of with a visit from our therapy dog Rufus to spread the love, following a special valentines lunch and enjoyed an afternoon of love songs! Our Manager, Sarah shared the love by giving out chocolates to our staff and residents, but the highlight of the day was residents and staff sharing their secret to a long lasting relationship!
Valentines Trail
We are starting this valentines week with spreading some love all around the island! Make the most of this lovely day and head out for a lovely walk to find these flowers. We have been all morning putting out roses. If you are lucky enough to find one just bring it along to us and collect your prize! We can’t wait to see you
