Activities at White Lodge Care Home

Our Activities Coordinators here at White Lodge enjoy the fulfillment of helping residents feel important and a part of something. Meaningful moments are created through laughter and comfort. A varied activities programme is offered for the betterment of residents' bodies and minds, including music for health, 'Oomph' sessions and chair Zumba, in addition to coffee and cake groups that all inevitably lead to giggles and old fashioned singalongs. Also, we organise parties, trips out, walks in the country, bus outings and wonderful entertainers to visit our home. A sneaky tipple is always welcomed with cheese and crackers and, at the end of the day, it is important to go home knowing our activities have made a difference.

Pancake Day

The residents at White Lodge Care Home really enjoyed celebrating pancake day, there were a selection of pancake fillings to choose from including the traditional filling of Lemon juice and Sugar.

We also had a great time laughing while we took part in the pancake tossing competition, no pancakes on the ceiling this time but there was plenty on the floor.

Valentine's Day

Some of our Residents from White Lodge Care Home went out onto Wootton Bassett high street to give out roses to members of the public for Valentine’s Day, the people were shocked and over the moon to receive such a lovely gift and said how kind and thoughtful it was, we all had such a lovely morning.

We then came back to a lovely afternoon tea with Friends and Family and enjoyed singing love songs together.

The home was decorated so beautifully with Balloons, Hearts and Roses and the dining table set up and scattered with Rose Petals for a lovely supper.

Dignity Day Tea Party

On 1st February, Staff and residents at White Lodge celebrated Dignity Day with a Dignity tea party and recognised the day together.

The day is celebrated to highlight the importance of treating a person as an individual, giving them the respect they deserve and making them feel important in their daily life by providing them the option to make their own choices.

We made the day special for our residents, we arranged a dignity tea party and our chef came up with an amazing idea of making heart shaped red velvet cakes with blue for male, pink for female and white for any other gender. Along with music, savouries and a cup of tea the home was alive and cheerful all through the afternoon.

To remember the day, we made a Dignity tree and hung it on the wall.

On the leaves the staff and residents wrote their thoughts on Dignity and how they care, and share their understanding with each other.

We treat our residents and staff members with dignity and respect and we want to promote our good practice all through the year.
