Activities at White Lodge Care Home

Our Activities Coordinators here at White Lodge enjoy the fulfillment of helping residents feel important and a part of something. Meaningful moments are created through laughter and comfort. A varied activities programme is offered for the betterment of residents' bodies and minds, including music for health, 'Oomph' sessions and chair Zumba, in addition to coffee and cake groups that all inevitably lead to giggles and old fashioned singalongs. Also, we organise parties, trips out, walks in the country, bus outings and wonderful entertainers to visit our home. A sneaky tipple is always welcomed with cheese and crackers and, at the end of the day, it is important to go home knowing our activities have made a difference.

Walks In The Sunshine

Today a few of our residents went out for a walk in our beautiful grounds, taking in the spectacular scenery and more than a bit of wildlife. We are very fortunate to have extensive grounds including our own lake here at White Lodge.

For our residents engaging in outdoor activities is a time-honoured way of improving mental health, enhancing relationships, reducing feelings of isolation, encouraging energy, speeding up recovery, lowering stress, fighting depression and anxiety, and contributing to general overall health.

Happy Birthday Cynthia

Today we celebrated the birthday of Cynthia with the staff and residents joining in the celebrations. The White Lodge team wish her happiness and good health. Happy birthday.

Swindon designer outlet

The residents went out for a mystery mini-bus trip to Swindon Designer Outlet. Our residents enjoyed the day and we had tea in our minibus too before we returned to our home white lodge. Outdoor trips as activity also helps us to promote Meaning, Connectedness and joy (some of our domains of well-being).

Happy Birthday!

Our little Iris turned 98! We have been disclosing our age at the party and found out that Iris is the oldest at the moment! We have more residents turning 98 coming weeks but Iris is certainly the oldest! Iris was very happy to see the arrangement specially the delicious cake made by our chef Richard. She asked for him to thank personally!

Activity board

Today our activities department has launched a help yourself board from where residents can access various activity sheets as per their interests. The aim is to promote independence in the home and to encourage residents to get engaged with tasks. This will also provide activities to do to friends and families who visit their loved ones in the home. Also the staff from other departments can do a meaningful engagement with the residents whenever possible. It will also help to keep the paper tidy and it is a sustainable solution as people will use only what they need. Hopefully this will reduce over printing and utilise the most of the resources. One of the benefits would be it's very person centred and meets the needs of the residents if the activities team are not in that day. We have kept quizzes, word search, cross words, oomph digest, newsletter, weather updates, puzzles, activity book, magazine, spot the difference. Our residents are already loving it! Please let us know what do you think about it!

National Picnic Week

The staff, residents and their relatives celebrated national picnic week with hawaiian themed picnic at white lodge care home with a bang!

We decorated the gazebo with colourful bunting, coconut tree lights, tropical hanging swirls, paper pineapple, grass table skirt and rattan garden furniture.

Our photo booth was decorated with beach party backdrop and inflatable palm tree to take memorable pictures with friends and family. There were tropic garlands and hats to wear to go with the tropical look!

Our tikki bar and snack shack was full with delicious buffet and drink prepared by our talented chef Richard. He made cocktails, fruit skewers, donuts, sandwiches, quiche, mini sausages and so on!

Thanks ro Chez's ice cream van to come as our residents enjoyed soft cone a lot. As you can see in the pictures, our staff enjoyed some ice cream too!

Special thanks to Nick from mini concert to entertain our residents with some mesmerising summer songs. One of the residents Maggie said, "I have a special memory about this song and it made me really emotional."
