Activities at Threshfield Court Care Home

Here at Threshfield Court, we aim to tailor the activities to meet the needs of individual residents, the communities within the home and the home as a whole. We have regular, structured activities such as visits from Music for Health, specialist armchair exercise facilitators, local musicians and a growing team of volunteers, including our local clergy. We also have time for arts and crafts, all sorts of games, music, poetry and lots more. We are pretty good at being spontaneous too!

Life at Threshfield Court Care Home

Live entertainment

At Threshfield Court Care Home today we were delighted to welcome Geoff who came to play his guitar and sing to us.  We get the musical instruments out and have a really fun time.  Some of us have a dance and join in.  We always finish with a cup of tea and a piece of cake

Flower power

At Threshfield Court Care Centre we love flower arranging especially on a Bank Holiday Monday.    It is amazing how much enjoyment we have and how much concentration is needed to get the display just perfect.  We have a nice relaxing waterfall CD playing in the back ground which really enhances our wellbeing.  We always enjoy a cup of tea and a piece of homemade cake whilst we admire our displays.

Poetry with Leonard

At Threshfield Court Care Centre we had a lovely hour of poetry reading and discussion.  The relaxed environment encouraged some of our residents to take the stage and recite their favourite poems.   It is always such an enjoyable activity and always so much nicer with a cup of tea and a slice of  homemade cake.

Conversations by the Pond

We had a lovely time joining Henry Slator for an exciting virtual event to discuss his book ‘Conversations at the Pond’.

Henry had an unusual writing journey, which many of our residents found inspiring, he underwent chemotherapy in early 2020, which allowed him to rediscover his light-hearted outlook on life by imagining conversations with creatures in and around his large garden pond and adding buckets of fun.

The entertaining Conversations at the Pond, with its mass of colourful illustrations, took our residents along his journey, they felt inspired, cheered and loved hearing all about Henry’s experiences.

National Gardening Week

At Threshfield Court Care Centre we have the  most beautiful garden.  To help us celebrate National Gardening Week, our gardener purchased some new pots, plants and compost.  We had some much fun as we brought the garden in doors as it was a bit chilly outside and proceeded to have fun planting and getting our hands dirty.   We played some relaxing music in the back ground  and enjoyed a cup of tea.  I was pleased to say that there were many hands in the clean-up

All creatures great and small

In the Yorkshire Dales the sun was shining and the breeze was blowing as we meandered up the Dale to one of our favourite picnic spots.  It is by the side of the River Wharfe where we listen to the trickle of the river rushing by.  The calls of the variety of birds and the bleating of sheep and their lambs.  Just watching the “wacky races “ of the young lambs is a great entertainment in itself.  We even stopped off to view the Farm which they are using for the new series of “All Creatures Great and Small
