Activities at Thistle Hill Care Home

Our activities team are great at building the activities programme around the likes and interests of the people we care for. Ensuring that our social events offer fun and adventure is part of the ethos of our home; it’s important that those we support can enjoy an active and social lifestyle. Of course, there will always be those who prefer peace and quiet, and in these instances, a cup of tea and a chat are always welcomed.

January at Thistle Hill

We kept ourselves really busy throughout January here at Thistle Hill.

We were visited by some meerkats, enjoyed a trip out to the local garden center, were joined by volunteer, Carol, had a coffee morning every Thursday – and much more!

Burns Night

Burns Night

Everyone had a fantastic time celebrating the the works of Robert Burns. We enjoyed a delicious Scottish-themed dinner that included haggis (hats off to our brilliant chefs and their team), topped off with a bagpipe performance by Mhairi Sellar.

Christmas Time

We were joined by Goldsbough School, who came in to sing to residents. We were also joined by some baby lambs, and everyone loved making a fuss of them – and lots, lots more! It was a very merry Christmas!

,

Winter Wonderland

We enjoyed a trip out to Winter Wonderland st Stockald Park. Residents loved it; there were loads of things to see and do and, to top it off, we enjoyed a delicious lunch with some hot chocolate.

Bundle of Joy

Bundle of Joy

Memory Lane Carer, Katie Baines, brought her bundle of joy, Ralph Darwen, into the home to show off to staff and residents. Born 13th November 2018 at 7:06 a.m. in Harrogate Hospital, Ralph and Mummy are doing really well! A big congratulations from everyone at Thistle Hill.

Children in Need

The kitchen staff made some Pudsey cakes for Children in Need, and got into the spirit of things by dressing up. We also hosted a raffle and managed to raise £40 for a great cause.
