Our staff are what hold the home together. Each one of these team members are dedicated to providing high quality care and services to those we support, and ensuring that residents enjoy all aspects of life at our home. See below to meet some of our friendly faces:
Hi, my name is Mandy and I am General Manager here at Thistle Hill. Welcome to our website!
Thank you for taking the time to look further into what we have to offer to you or your loved one. Here is an opportunity to look at some of our staff team in the home, who all play a vital role in day-to-day life.
I have more than 20 years of experience in the care sector; and started my career working with people with learning disabilities. I have managed domiciliary care agencies as well as nursing dementia homes. I have also bee an area manager for over 10 years bringing a wealth of experience to the home.

Hi, my name is Siva and I am the Deputy Manager here at Thistle Hill. I hope you like what you see and we very much welcome you to our home!
I have more than two decades of experience in the care; I started my career as a nurse before moving in to the management of the home. I have plenty of experience across the nursing sector and recently I supported our residents with dementia.
As home deputy manager, I enjoy still been able to support our residents and staff members.
I trained as an adult nurse in India. I worked as a critical care nurse in the Middle East for 18 years before joined Thistle Hill in 2018.
I trained as an adult nurse at York University and specialised in brain injury. I have worked on neuro HDU, as well as in the community, caring for those with additional needs due to their injuries or conditions.
I have worked at Thistle Hill since April 2019, moving into the Head of Unit Role in September 2019.
I have a young family and live in the Yorkshire Dales.
My name is Jan Cooper and I am proud to be the head of unit on Memory Lane.
I have been with Thistle Hill since 2003. I take great pride in my work, and I strive to improve the quality of life for our residents, giving them a great lived experience and plenty of comfort.
I have attended many dementia training courses and seen our Memory Lane community receive great write-ups and awards over the years, and I am proud to pass my skills and knowledge on to my team.
I’m always here for the relatives and extended family members to help support them in any way I can.
Hi, my name is Sue and I am the Administrator here at Thistle Hill. I joined Barchester in June 2018. In my role I deal with all aspects of the administration of the home to ensure it runs smoothly, from invoicing, ordering, recruitment, setting up contracts, to manning the telephones. There's never a dull day!
I am here to offer you a warm welcome and happy to assist you with any enquiries that you may have. I love working at Thistle Hill and I look forward to welcoming you to our home.
Hi, my name is Mark and I am proud to be the activities coordinator on our memory lane community. I’ve worked in care for nearly 6 years before moving on to activities.
I strongly believe in creating moments for our residents and embracing their individuality with tailor made activities, whilst remaining person centred and respecting resident’s preferences. Every day I like to ensure the residents on memory lane can enjoy themselves and have a good time whilst forming bonds with each other and the staff around them.
Hi, my name is Paul and I joined Thistle Hill in 2020, my team provide a high standard of cuisine for our residents and believe mealtimes are a special time for our residents to socialise and have some fun, I enjoy talking to the residents every day to ensure I am up to date with their preferences.
Stephen is responsible for maintaining the environment and equipment within Thistle Hill, thereby ensuring the comfort, safety and well being of our residents.
I love to get to know our residents, and work closely with the Head Chef in creating wonderful wholesome dishes for them to enjoy. Understanding their individual nutrition and dietary needs is very important, and we take great pride in knowing the food we serve helps to improve residents' well-being here at the home.
With a team of housekeepers and laundry staff, I aim to make the home clean and, of course, homely for our residents. We prepare rooms for new residents and will take into account individual preferences for colour schemes whenever possible. On a daily basis, the housekeepers will clean all bedrooms and communal areas. We have a large amount of laundry to wash, iron and return to residents, but our dedicated staff will do this as quickly as possible and to a high standard.
I have a caring nature and previously I worked as a carer. I still enjoy interacting and spending time with our residents.
I have 25 years’ experience in working in secondary education and working with young adults with learning and physical disabilities.
I enjoy delivering personalised activities and group activities and I look forward to ensuring all residents are engaged in the activities and that they enjoy while they get to try new things and enjoy engaging in brand new experiences.
My aim is to ensure residents enjoy themselves and love every day.
