Meet the team
Our staff are what hold the home together. Each one of these team members are dedicated to providing high quality care and services to those we support, and ensuring that residents enjoy all aspects of life at our home. See below to meet some of our friendly faces:
Hi, my name is Mandy and I am the General Manager here at Thistle Hill. I hope you find what you're looking for on our website!
I have more than 20 years of experience in the care sector; I started my career working with people with learning disabilities.
I have managed domiciliary care agencies as well as nursing dementia homes. I was also an area manager for over 10 years.
My name is Marlon; I joined Barchester at Thistle Hill in December 2017. I originally qualified as an RGN in the Philippines in 1992 and have experience working in A&E and intensive care.
I moved to the UK in 2001 and have always worked in Yorkshire, working my way up from staff nurse to charge nurse, then on to different managerial positions within care home environments.
I am looking forward to the challenge in this role.
My name is Jan Cooper and I am proud to be the head of unit on Memory Lane.
I have been with Thistle Hill since 2003. I take great pride in my work, and I strive to improve the quality of life for our residents, giving them a great lived experience and plenty of comfort.
I have attended many dementia training courses and seen our Memory Lane community receive great write-ups and awards over the years, and I am proud to pass my skills and knowledge on to my team.
I’m always here for the relatives and extended family members to help support them in any way I can.
Hi, my name is Sue and I am the Administrator here at Thistle Hill.
I have been an activities coordinator at Thistle Hill for over 4 years and previously a carer within the home for a few years.
I love the role that I do, organising events throughout the year and taking advantage of our mini bus to take our residents on great trips and to interesting places nearby. Both residents and staff love visiting the seaside, the local pubs and shopping centres.
I am dedicated to the role that I do, enhancing the life’s of our residents on a day-to-day basis. We have good links with our community to help and support our residents from young disabled to elderly and frail.
Hi my name’s Mark and I’m proud to be the activities coordinator on memory lane at Thistle Hill.
I’ve worked on memory lane since November 2014 initially as a carer and senior carer. This gave me invaluable experience in getting to know our residents and learn their life history to help me deliver meaningful activities that I deliver this with a person centred approach.
I very much enjoy and take a lot of satisfaction in helping our residents create new moments on their journey with us and even rediscover skills in themselves.
Hi, my name is Ewelina, and I am a Chef here at Thistle Hill.
Stephen is responsible for maintaining the environment and equipment within Thistle Hill, thereby ensuring the comfort, safety and well being of our residents.
Hi, my name's Carole, and I’m proud to be a volunteer at Thistle Hill Care Home.
I’ve been a volunteer since 2015 and, prior to this, my mother was a resident here, and I loved the home and the staff so much. Thistle Hill became a second family to me, which is what made me want to volunteer.
I really enjoy spending time with residents and love giving them stimulation/ I find it very rewarding seeing the residents enjoy the activities I do with them.
I appreciate how much the staff have supported me and given me the confidence as a volunteer at the home.
My name is Oscar. I have worked with Mandy for 8 years. I like to meet and greet people, so please come and say hello when you visit Thistle Hill.
