Activities at Silverbirch House Care Home

Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.

We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

Bo Tse

Head of Activities

With previous experience working in a care home as an activities coordinator, I have developed a strong passion for enhancing the daily lives of residents through engaging and meaningful activities.

I am thrilled to join Barchester because of its outstanding reputation for providing exceptional care and a warm, community-focused environment. In my role, I will be dedicated to creating enriching programs that promote social interaction and well-being, helping both residents and their families feel supported and connected.

Activities and Events Partnerships

As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies

This week at Silverbirch

Our residents have been getting active both inside and out! We started with a morning exercise class, moved on to indoor ball games, and then enjoyed outdoor bowls on our lovely courtyard green. We finished up with a refreshing walk around our housing estate.

All of these activities are part of our daily program here at Silverbirch, promoting Home, Health, and Spirit.

Colin our Resident of the Day!

Yesterday at Silverbirch House, we spent some time celebrating Colin as our Resident of the Day! We craft a day around our resident's favourite foods and interests, including a delicious Chicken Pie with mashed potatoes and green beans, Colin's choice! It's all part of our Resident of the Day program, which makes sure every resident gets a chance to shine and be celebrated throughout the year. Plus, it allows our team members to get to know the residents even better.

Hatchlands Park

Residents from Silverbirch House Care Home had a fantastic day out at Hatchlands Park! They explored the beautiful Georgian country house and the stunning parklands. The stars of the show of course are our residents Rosemary, Robin, Nick, Gilly, and Frank, along with the donkeys who made the day even more special.

Aldershot Military Museum

We had a fantastic day out with our Silverbirch House residents Gilly, Robert, Nick, and Frank! 🎉 We visited the Aldershot Military Museum, which is housed in the last surviving brick-built barrack blocks in Aldershot. The museum brought history to life with stories of both soldiers and civilians with both memorabilia and actual military vehicles.

Silverbirch Residents Meeting in the Sun

Thanks to the amazing weather today, our residents' meeting was held in our beautiful courtyard!

At these monthly meetings, residents share their thoughts with all heads of department, from the chef and maintenance to community engagement, activities, senior carers, and senior management. Communication is key to any relationship and our resident's voice matters!

Today was a productive meeting in the courtyard and an enjoyable meeting, followed by delicious ice lollies, milkshakes, and smoothies.
