Activities at Silverbirch House Care Home
Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.
We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

Bo Tse
With previous experience working in a care home as an activities coordinator, I have developed a strong passion for enhancing the daily lives of residents through engaging and meaningful activities.
I am thrilled to join Barchester because of its outstanding reputation for providing exceptional care and a warm, community-focused environment. In my role, I will be dedicated to creating enriching programs that promote social interaction and well-being, helping both residents and their families feel supported and connected.
Activities and Events Partnerships
As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies

Silverbirch House visit to the Sunflower Café
This week, Silverbirch House residents enjoyed visiting the Sunflower Café at Guildford United Reformed Church! Today was about sit-down exercises and a good chat. The café is a warm and welcoming space for people living with dementia and their carers, offering friendly conversation, creative workshops, mindful music sessions, and more. A big thank you to everyone who made today so special—social interaction and some exercise make such a difference!

Silverbirch House Shines at the Great British Care Awards 2024!
Congratulations to Cristina Volosetchi, our amazing Deputy Manager, for achieving a 'Highly Commended' 2nd place in the Care Assessor/ Care Planner Category for 2024. This recognition is a testament to how she conducts herself every day with compassion and leadership. A big round of applause for our Senior Carer, Mihaela, who was nominated in the Care Newcomer Category! Her commitment and hard work make a difference every day.

Becky the Singer visits Silverbirch House
We were thrilled to welcome the incredibly talented singer and friend of Silverbirch Becky to this week! Her lively and interactive performance was a hit with our residents, bringing toe-tapping smiles, laughter, and even a bit of dancing to the room. Our ongoing Life Enrichment Program is designed to bring joy, engagement, and meaningful experiences to our wonderful residents. Becky’s warm energy and beautiful voice delivered all of the above.

A Beautiful Day Out at Guildford Cathedral
Today, residents from Silverbirch House were treated to a visit to the stunning Guildford Cathedral, where they experienced a performance by the Melos Saxophone Quartet. Formed in 2019 at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. The amazing acoustics filled the cathedral, creating a magical musical experience resonating with our residents.

A Fitting Tribute
We were honoured to welcome the incredible D-Day Dollies to Silverbirch House, where they brought the spirit of the era to life with their beautiful voices! In celebration of Remembrance, they performed classic nostalgic and joyous songs that filled the room and echoed down the corridors of Silverbirch. Our residents joined in, singing along to their favourite tunes and waving their flags proudly. It was a moving experience that connected us to the courage and resilience of past generations.
A big thank you to the D-Day Dollies for this unforgettable performance honouring those who served.

Arts, Crafts and Glowing Jars
Our residents had a life-enriching afternoon making glowing jars with Tracy from Craft N Beats. As the golden autumn sun poured through the windows residents, staff, and our lovely guest Tracy gathered together for a cosy and creative craft session in the activity room.
The finished glowing jars weren’t just about crafting—they were about celebrating the colour of the season, the community, and the joy of creating something meaningful together. These little moments matter so much all in the name of life enrichment at Silverbirch House.
Thank you, Tracy, for filling our home with warmth and creativity!
