Activities at Silverbirch House Care Home
Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.
We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

Mobile Library
OUR OWN MOBILE LIBRARY
Our wonderful residents have so many interests, hobbies, activities and creative things that they love to do here so we decided to add to the list..... it's a long list by having our very own mobile library.
It's already a huge success with our residents!

Another Review
ANOTHER WONDERFUL REVIEW THIS WEEK!
We are on a roll, so the saying goes.... receiving another glowing review in a matter of days from a lovely couple that stayed with us for some respite.
They wanted to take a break from having to worry about their care needs at home and their family suggested they stay with us here for a couple of weeks. We loved having them and they are rebooking another respite stay with us very soon.
We offer short stay and respite stays for anyone in need of a break or maybe their carers need some well earned holiday time off. Either way we can help and happy to do so.

Pen Pals With Worplesdon Primary School
PEN PALS WITH WORPLESDON SCHOOL
In the world of iPhones, tablets and social media platforms the art of letter writing is sadly less and less..... NOT for our residents though and for Worplesdon Primary School who are bridging the generation gap by becoming pen pals.
It's a wonderful feeling to receive a letter and enjoy the words that someone has taken time to share, our residents have absolutely loved these moments. The theme has been 'earliest memories' and so both the pupils and our residents can share their own earliest memories over these precious letters.

Knit & Natter
KNIT & NATTER
Variety as the saying goes 'is the spice of life' and our residents love variety!
If we're not out at the zoo or taking part in our regular Zumba sessions we also enjoy participating in arts and crafts including our regular KNIT N NATTER classes.
A time to relax and enjoy chatting whilst creating some woolie items too

Summer Vibes
Summer vibes keeping cool...
Plenty of drinks and ice creams to keep our lovely residents hydrated and cool in the warm sunny weather.

Celebrating Pride Month
CELEBRATING PRIDE MONTH
We joined in with the spirit of pride month with our residents and team by enjoying colourful accessories and decorations.....
Our home supports different cultures, diversity and communities so we decided to celebrate pride month and mark it with our own colourful celebrations which included cake decorations and an array of mocktails of many colours...

Silverbirch House makes Stewart's dream come true!
Resident, Stewart, at Silverbirch House had always wanted to re-visit an art gallery, so staff at the home made his wish a reality proving the old adage, it’s never too late.
Stewart has lived at Silverbirch for 18 months and is beloved by staff and residents alike. Staff at the home were delighted to be a part of making Stewart’s dream come true, as they knew how much it meant to him and they all wanted to be there to see the smile on Stewart’s face when his dream was realised.
Staff first found out about Stewart’s dream and decided to plan a memorable trip to The Watts Art Gallery. Stewart was also accompanied by some of the other residents and staff who were there to witness this momentous occasion.
In response to this wonderful surprise, Stewart, said: “It is such an amazing feeling to know that such a loving group of people care so much about me that they helped me to live out a dream – and I didn’t even ask.”
Louise White, General Manager at the home, said: “We believe that every moment is worth cherishing. We want everyone we care for to know how important they are to us here at Silverbirch House. It is testament to the hard work and dedication of the team here in making our residents’ dreams come true. It was wonderful to see how happy Stewart was – and the staff loved being a part of this as well.”
Silverbirch House care home is run by Barchester Healthcare, one of the UK’s largest care providers, which is committed to delivering personalised care across its care homes and hospitals. Silverbirch provides residential care and dementia care for 65 residents from respite care to long-term stays.

Pen Pals with Worplesdon Primary School Children
The power of receiving a hand written letter will never disappoint as the feeling you have when opening the envelope and reading the words that someone has put together for your benefit simply never dates and not even social media could compare.
That is why when we asked the pupils from Worplesdon Primary School to take part in our pen pals idea they straight away agreed.
The theme of the letters are for both our residents and the students to share ‘their earliest memories’ how wonderful!
