Activities at Sherwood Court Care Home

Our home is always full of life, and we can thank our wonderful Activities Coordinators for this. Dedication to creating a unique and interesting activities programme is what sets us apart from other homes. We always take into consideration that some people would prefer to pursue their own interests, which is why our team strive to incorporative activities that cater to a wide range of tastes and hobbies. Our trips out are always fun and exciting as well, and residents are guaranteed to return with stories to tell their loved ones!

Life at Sherwood Court Care Home

Virtual book event

Our residents across our homes had a lovely time joining Daniel Snowman, for an exciting virtual event to discuss his book ‘Just Passing Through’.

Author of over a dozen books, Daniel Snowman’s long and active life has led him to interact in countless ways with the wider world and with some of its most famous inhabitants. His memoir evokes these experiences via a series of vivid literary vignettes.

Our residents found the talk very intriguing and informative, and were happy to learn more about Daniel’s experiences around the world.  A great time was had by all.

Birthday celebrations in style!

Everyone here at Sherwood Court enjoyed a magical fun-filled afternoon to celebrate resident, June's 80-years young birthday.

The birthday girl was treated to a special performance by popular entertainer, Geno who dressed as the 'King' to perform a medley of Elvis hits by one of June's favourite artists.

June was surrounded by family, friends and colleagues for her birthday treat and was delighted to receive a specially prepared cake.

Happy birthday, June from everyone at Sherwood Court!

Virtual singing session

Our homes had a fantastic time with vocal coach Mark De-Lisser as he led an amazing virtual singing session for our residents to enjoy.

Our residents were able to learn different techniques as they sang the famous ‘I’m a Believer’ by The Monkees.

There were smiles and laugher all around. The session was such a success and was great for the mind, body and soul.

Father's Day

We marked Father’s Day in style with a very special lunch in honour of all fathers.

Some of our residents met their loved ones in the garden and our home, others enjoyed video calls with their family and friends. We all took part in various activities, such as writing letters and cards, and playing themed games and quizzes. We even discussed the best dad jokes we had heard!

Our residents spent time reminiscing about their earlier lives and talking about their fathers and children.  They were delighted also to receive gifts from Ribbleton Avenue Methodist Junior School.

Hat's off - Royal Ascot celebrations

We marked the annual Royal Ascot races in style as we dressed to impress, put on our favourite hats and we used our gaming money to place our winning bets.

Our residents enjoyed the event from the comfort of the home, we watched the races, had conversations about the Royal Ascot fashion and celebrated the occasion with a glass or two of fizz and delicious treats.

Some of our residents decided to sit in the garden to listen to the Royal Ascot races, we had a great time debating who was going to win.
