Activities at Shawford Springs Care Home
Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.
We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

Joanne Gadd
Hello, I am Joanne. I have worked as an activities coordinator for over seven years. In that time I have built a wealth of skills, knowledge and experience in designing and implementing activities that will support the mind, body and soul. I have a passion for delivering person centred sessions and will strive to ensure our weekly programme is engaging for all. I love organising events and am continually looking for ways to connect with our local community.
Activities and Events Partnerships
As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies

Community Knit and Natter - Oh Christmas Tree, Oh Christmas Tree
Our knit & Natter Community group met again this week to continue work on their knitted Christmas tree which is looking absolutely fantastic! Well done to everyone who has been involved, we can’t wait to see it once the final touches have been added

Oh Christmas tree, Oh Christmas Tree.....
It’s been a team effort getting our main tree decorated, but we are absolutely thrilled with the result!
We’d like to give another mention & thank you to Three Pin Recycling for the tree donation & also the ladies of the Kitchen Dancers W.I for their beautiful handmade decorations.
Now we just need some gifts to go underneath!

The Power of the Flower - The Christmas Edition
This week we welcomed Sara for our community Power of the Flower Event ... The seasonal special during which we created a beautiful group floral arrangement whilst discussing the meaning of various flowers & foliage. We also got to try something rather unusual - a cup of pine needle tea!

Jolly Holly Christmas Trip
This week we enjoyed a wonderfully festive trip to Garsons - Titchfield Garden Centre for a look at their beautiful Christmas decorations. We particularly admired their Wind in the Willows inspired display and the drinks in the Orangery Tea House after went down a storm.

Elf and Christmas Fitness
Thank you to our brilliant keep fit instructor Karen, who provided a very special Elf and Festive fitness class this week

Community Christmas crafting - The Winchester Kitchen dancers WI
We had a fabulous time at our Christmas craft morning which was run by Sally & the lovely ladies of the Kitchen Dancers W.I group. We made a variety of felt tree decorations whilst having a good natter & it was a thoroughly enjoyable morning. We are very much looking forward to having another craft session next year.
