Activities at Rose Lodge Care Home

Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.

Our home is always full of life, and we can thank our wonderful Activities Coordinators for this. Dedication to creating a unique and interesting activities programme is what sets us apart from other homes. We always take into consideration that some people would prefer to pursue their own interests, which is why our team strive to incorporative activities that cater to a wide range of tastes and hobbies. Our trips out are always fun and exciting as well, and residents are guaranteed to return with stories to tell their loved ones!

Jane Ritchie

Head of Activities

Hello, my name is Jane and I am the Activities Coordinator here at Rose Lodge and I have been here since 2010 .

My role is to engage and stimulate our residents by offering a range of activities for them to enjoy. I want to get everyone involved and make our home community and atmosphere as positive and welcoming as possible.

Making sure that our residents have things to do that they really enjoy doing is something that I am passionate about, It is so important to make sure that they are happy and enjoy all of the activities and events that we do with them. We enjoy creating new and special memories together.

Activities and Events Partnerships

As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies

National Biscuit Day

It was a special day for all of us at Rose Lodge when we recently celebrated National Biscuit Day in style.

We certainly had a fun-filled day of biscuit dunking and tasting, paired with a good old cup of tea. Our residents got involved in a biscuit tasting activity, themed quiz and a chat about all things biscuits whilst creating their own flavoursome biscuit treats!

RAF Museum London

Across our services we had a lovely time joining Rhiannon Watkinson from the RAF Museum London for an interactive talk exploring the exciting and innovative aviation history of Hendon.

Our residents were able to learn about the first flights from the fields at Hendon, the creation of the London Aerodrome and Battle of Britain pilots who flew from RAF Hendon.

The talk also included photographic and film material from the Museum’s archive. Residents across our homes had a fantastic time and we truly enjoyed the virtual experience.

Happy Pride month!

Happy Pride Month! Pride Month is a celebration of the LGBTQIA+ community and the wonderful contributions they have made to society. It is also a time to raise awareness, celebrate diversity and promote equality.

In celebration of Pride Month, we have learned about the history of pride month with activity packs and have thrown a colourful pride afternoon tea to enjoy our themed cupcakes made during our popular group baking session.  A wonderful time was had by all.

Exploring the virtual Dementia Bus

Over 30 colleagues were supported to explore the virtual dementia bus which provides an insight into what it is like to live with dementia and how we can support those individuals.

Colleagues said “it was some of the best training they had ever had and will definitely be putting what they have learnt into practice”.

Carers Week

We had a fabulous time celebrating Carers Week. We took the time to recognise and thank our wonderful carers at Rose Lodge.  We are proud of each and every one of our care team for the outstanding care that they provide to our residents every single day. They always go above and beyond their role and for this we are truly grateful.

As part of the week, our carers received lovely thank you cards from our community members, relatives and friends.

Eyes down

Residents at Rose Lodge enjoy a varied life enrichment programme to keep the mind, body and soul active. Each day there are popular group activities bringing everyone together along with individual Resident centred activities. It was ‘eyes down’ for residents at Rose Lodge as they attempted to win a full house during a game of themed bingo, with activities the house caller!

Many of the residents have played bingo prior to moving into the home and bingo continues to be a popular game for the home as part of its life enrichment programme. There is lots of excitement in the air to see who will claim the prize!
