Activities at Rose Lodge Care Home

Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.

Our home is always full of life, and we can thank our wonderful Activities Coordinators for this. Dedication to creating a unique and interesting activities programme is what sets us apart from other homes. We always take into consideration that some people would prefer to pursue their own interests, which is why our team strive to incorporative activities that cater to a wide range of tastes and hobbies. Our trips out are always fun and exciting as well, and residents are guaranteed to return with stories to tell their loved ones!

Hello, my name is Jane and I am the Activities Coordinator here at Rose Lodge and I have been here since 2010 .

My role is to engage and stimulate our residents by offering a range of activities for them to enjoy. I want to get everyone involved and make our home community and atmosphere as positive and welcoming as possible.

Making sure that our residents have things to do that they really enjoy doing is something that I am passionate about, It is so important to make sure that they are happy and enjoy all of the activities and events that we do with them. We enjoy creating new and special memories together.

Alzheimer's Awareness Week

Staff and residents at Barchester’s Rose Lodge Care Home in Wisbech marked Alzheimer’s Awareness Month which is taking place throughout September.

Alzheimer’s is a form of dementia, the loss of cognitive functioning – thinking, remembering, reasoning – which can affect a person’s day to day life and activities.  Functions that can be impacted are memory, language skills, visual perception, problem solving, self-management and the ability to focus and pay attention.  The number of people living with dementia in the UK is forecast to increase to over 1m.

Group exercise

Here at Rose Lodge, we always look forward to JG Fitness hosting our popular group exercise session which brings our residents together.

These regular sessions are great for our mind, body and soul. We used bands to help with our exercise this week and are very much looking forward to our next session.

103-years young celebrations

Celebrations have been in full swing at Rose Lodge Care Home as one of its residents reaches her 103rd birthday in style.

Nancy King was joined by staff and family to celebrate her 103rd birthday. Nancy enjoyed many cards, presents and a special cake made by Head Chef Dianne Lilley. Nancy enjoyed afternoon tea and a party at the home joined by several family members.

Nancy was born in Sutton and had a smallholding with several animals. Nancy has 7 children and 5 Grandchildren. Nancy loved being by the seaside and also cooking, especially baking.

A spot of retail therapy

Residents thoroughly enjoyed a trip out to our local supermarket doing a spot of retail therapy and using the self-service check out. Residents purchased some delicious cakes and commented “they could not believe how much things have changed in the supermarkets!”

As part of our life enrichment programme we ensure our residents remain connected to their local community.

Home creates games room

Here at Rose Lodge we are delighted to have created a ‘games room’ for residents and their families to come together and have fun!

Our little games room as a pool table and darts board and residents have also taken up dominos and cards. We also have an ice hockey  game  – a little friendly competitiveness is showing! Residents really do enjoy the games room  to socialise and a great opportunity to catch up.

Gaming rooms can also promote health and wellness. With the rise of fitness games, you can use your gaming room to incorporate physical activity into your gaming routine. This is a great way to stay active while enjoying your favorite games.

A breath of fresh air

Residents of Rose Lodge took to the homes beautiful garden to take advantage of the dry weather to enjoy a breath of fresh air and to enjoy a spot of gardening as part of the homes popular garden club.

Everyone commented on how much better they felt for grabbing a breath of fresh air, feeling the sun on their faces and checking on the progress of their plants in the homes extensive grounds.
