Activities at Pinetree Care Home

Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.

Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

A little trip out

Keeping your independence whilst having the safety and security of knowing someone is always around to help you is vitally important.

When you enjoy a little bit of shopping, why shouldn’t you still do this.

Our lovely resident Joyce and fabulous carer Hayley went for a trip to the local supermarket for a mooch around the shop and some fresh air, chatting all the way and giggling at what they might buy, even stopping to observe nature and its change in season.

It’s so very important to stay connected to outside and be able to do as you always would.

Residents get crafty

What better way to spend a chilly Autumnal afternoon than doing a bit of seasonal crafting.

There was card of all colours, stamps, pens, scissors, laughter, concentration and a real buzz.

Becky, our fantastic admin assistant had created a card for everyone to recreate and they LOVED it. They spent so much time on it and watching them fine tune their motor skills, design and make something from start to finish and use their creativity was quite something. They were all so very proud of themselves and so they should be, just look at their smiles.

One of our lovely residents Joyce, even asked our amazing carer Hayley if she could dedicate the card she mage to her. She wrote 'Thank you for everything' Wow, that was a little tear jerking moment.

Mental Stimulation is the key

'To be mentally stimulated'

That was one of the top answers to the question 'what do you think you would need most when coming to live at Pinetree'

Well today did just that. We had a visit from the very knowledgeable Mike Davies from the Rayleigh Town Museum to discuss and educate on all things Rayleigh.

We had a full turn out of residents and they all engaged in asking questions and learning new information about the town in which they live. They were particularly intrigued to find out that the footpath next to us was once, in fact the path that led down to the prisoner of war camp.

Its always good to learn and the residents went to lunch thrilled with their new found knowledge and even continued the conversations over their meal.

Employee of the month

At Pinetree we believe that staff appreciation is incredibly valuable.

This month was the first one where we invited staff and residents to join together and highlight whom they believe deserves the special 'employee of the month' award.

Leigh-Ann, our incredibly hard working and exceptional Administrator won by an overwhelming majority.

Leigh-Ann comes in to work every day with a positive attitude and is always smiling and welcoming to the visitors to Pinetree, residents and their families.

Leigh-Ann loves her job and you can tell that by the hard work and dedication she puts in every single day. Thank you Leigh-Ann you are a very deserved winner.

Laura Glyde, General Manager presented Leigh-Ann with her certificate and her prize of a £25 voucher and said 'Thank you Leigh-Ann for everything you do, every day, for always being positive and smiling, for being professional always and for working so hard to make sure everything is carried out correctly. You are truly awesome'.

Qigong

What an interesting afternoon.

We had a visit from lovely Quiller Hawkins this afternoon to discuss with our residents about the benefits of qigong.

Quiller says

"When we slow the body down it slows the mind. Through the ancient practice of qigong (pronounced chee gong), we can unlock trapped energy in the body and put it to better use – we do this through breathing, stretching, warming up, activating key parts of the body and then moving the body in flowing movements that brings your whole body out of fight and flight into a deep and lasting relaxation"

The residents asked loads of questions and really got into the spirit of things. They were giggling and talking about how they would practice their breathing whilst lying down later. So lovely to hear them together laughing and having shared interests.

They even asked Quiller to come back for more lessons, so we will be seeing him again soon.
