Activities at Newton House Care Home

Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.

Our home is always full of life, and we can thank our wonderful Activities Coordinators for this. Dedication to creating a unique and interesting activities programme is what sets us apart from other homes. We always take into consideration that some people would prefer to pursue their own interests, which is why our team strive to incorporative activities that cater to a wide range of tastes and hobbies. Our trips out are always fun and exciting as well, and residents are guaranteed to return with stories to tell their loved ones!

World Book Day at Poplar Farm School

A fantastic start to our world book day celebrations, with a visit to see our fabulous friends at Poplar Farm School. The children & staff looked incredible with their amazing world book day costumes, & our residents really enjoyed reading to the children their favourite books.

Our residents were delighted to be invited to their singing assembly, seeing the children having so much fun with their teachers was a joy to watch. Vonny said “it was fantastic seeing everyone looking so good and the singing made me feel very happy, I loved clapping along”

Thank you so much to Poplar Farm School for allowing us to share such a special morning with you and your wonderful pupils.

Mini Bus Trip To Our Local Cafe

Some of our lovely ladies were thoroughly delighted with a bus trip out down town, for coffee & cake. Firstly we enjoyed exploring the high street admiring the latest fashions including handbags & clothes before heading down to the cafe to enjoy some delicious refreshments.

We all enjoyed some lovely conversations about how Joan had a lovely little white Westie called “Ben” and how her husband Geoff would walk him daily.

Jean said “thank you so much for taking us out today, it’s been great especially as I’ve never been here before”

London Ladies

As part of our International Women’s Day celebrations, Residents from across our services were thrilled to join tour guide, Mandy Morrow, for an exciting talk about some Legendary London Ladies.

Mandy shared the fascinating stories of eight ladies with us, from the one of the richest heiresses in the world to the original 'Roaring Girl'.

Everyone who participated truly enjoyed the experience and were delighted to take a walk down memory lane.

Eyes down for bingo bonzana

Across the country our homes and hospitals came together to find out which care home or hospital had the best Bingo players as we teamed up for Barchester’s Bingo Bonanza.

Residents were treated to some exciting virtual games of Bingo as part of Barchester’ very own game show series.

Everyone who participate had a fantastic time and enjoyed some friendly competition.

Games Morning

With our recent trip on our mini bus to the pub being postponed due to the rain we brought the fun inside!

Residents came together from all communities for a fabulous and challenging game’s morning, with connect 4 & dominoes. As well as physical exercise and stimulation our residents also enjoy exercising their minds and this was a great way for them to do that.

We also had a sing-along via Alan’s golden classics & some relaxing back massages to finish up our afternoon.

Celebrating Real Bread Week

Our residents have enjoyed celebrating real bread week, with baking some delicious bread rolls this morning.

Baking a variety of breads including sun dried tomato, and cheese onion. Mixing and kneading the dough was a fun way to improve dexterity and coordination, whilst stimulating the senses.

The activity prompted enjoyable reminiscence for what residents would bake for their families and in a professional role.
