Activities at Mount Vale Care Home
Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.
Our specialist activities staff are committed to organising a mix of activities and events for residents and the local community to get involved in, including trips out to local places of interest in our minibus and visits from PAT dogs, entertainers and musicians. It is important to us that each individual who we support can get as much from these as possible, so we try our best to arrange activities that reflect their interests and capabilities as best as possible, and encourage them to participate in any way they can. We also encourage relatives to join with activities and events as often as they can.

Louise Chapman
Hi my name is Louise I have been working at Mount Vale since 2010. I am the activities co-ordinator, I am here to promote the wellbeing of our residents and ensure they have a variety of activities to get involved in. I love finding new creative ways to engage our residents and involve our local community.
I am a dementia champion for the home and enjoy continuing to learn and find more things I can do to help promote the wellbeing of our residents.
I love spending time with each individual getting to know them so I can add individual needs into our plans. I love building strong relationships with our residents and families.
I am a crafty person and can be found doing diamond arts and lots of other creative things when I am not at work. I love spending time with my family and going for walks with my dog Dottie and cuddling my cat Loki.
Activities and Events Partnerships
As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies
Life at Mount Vale Care Home

A Christmas Carol
Across our homes we’ve had the most wonderful time celebrating the festive season with a special screening of 2020’s OLD VIC: IN CAMERA – A Christmas Carol.
This beautifully staged production brought the magic of Dickens’ classic tale right into our homes.
A huge thank you to The Old Vic theatre for sharing this incredible performance with us. It was a truly wonderful experience.

Holly & the Ivy
Staff and residents across our homes were treated to an interactive virtual Christmas-inspired table decorating masterclass, courtesy of talented master florist, Kathryn Delve.
Kathryn is an independent florist based in Somerset, she specialises in creating unique wedding and event flowers. She takes much of her inspiration for her displays from the beautiful scenery that surrounds her home and the changing seasons and colours.
During the workshop, residents were invited to join Kathryn to make beautiful Christmas-themed table decorations.

Spooktacular Halloween
We celebrated Halloween with a spooktacular party turning our main dining room into a dance floor. Residents and staff enjoyed some amazing music and a music trivia quiz with a Halloween theme of course.
Residents joined in with a variety of activities from decorating cakes, a fun filled 'pass the parcel' with lots of laughter over silly jokes! Trudi and Teresa wrapped up Shabu as a mummy, unfortunately they didn't manage to complete it within 3 minutes! Better luck next year ladies.
A special thank you to the homes hospitality team for serving delicious cakes and spooktaclar drinks, it was a day to remember!

Walk through a landscape
Residents across our services had a lovely time joining Emily and Marie-Therese from the Wallace Collection, for a virtual introduction to Reubens' Rainbow Landscape.
Residents truly enjoyed the sensory walk through one of the museum’s most famous landscape paintings.
Everyone who joined had a wonderful experience and can’t wait to put their creative skills to the test by painting some landscapes of our their in the coming days!

Quiz afternoon with friends from the community
We held our first quiz afternoon and welcomed a number of local community groups in joining us. We had a variety of different team including our local U3A quiz group and Residents and staff from Kirkley Lodge.
Quiz Master, Louise read all the questions and spent time working the room checking on everyone as we tested our knowledge.
After the quiz concluded, everyone enjoyed wonderful refreshments including sticky toffee cake, and warm drinks especially prepared by the homes hospitality team.

Wear It Pink
Mount vale in Northallerton joined in with celebrating Wear It Pink Day during Breast Cancer Awareness Month along with hundreds of thousands of other people across the UK to raise money for charity.
Wear It Pink is a Breast Cancer awareness campaign which has so far raised £31.5million for breast cancer since the campaign started in 2002. Schools, businesses and families get together to eat, wear and make something pink in order to raise money for breast cancer.
The residents of Mount Vale tucked into their favourite pink treats made by the home’s chef with help from friends, family, staff and residents! Everyone in the home, including the carers all added something pink to their outfits to celebrate the day. The staff and residents baked some amazing cakes to sell. They took part in wear it pink bingo, did a think pink quiz and spent the day doing a multitude of other pink crafts.
