Activities at Mount Vale Care Home

Our specialist activities staff are committed to organising a mix of activities and events for residents and the local community to get involved in, including trips out to local places of interest in our minibus and visits from PAT dogs, entertainers and musicians. It is important to us that each individual who we support can get as much from these as possible, so we try our best to arrange activities that reflect their interests and capabilities as best as possible, and encourage them to participate in any way they can. We also encourage relatives to join with activities and events as often as they can.

Life at Mount Vale Care Home

Medical Detection Dogs

Across our services residents had a fantastic time during a special live virtual event, led by Emilia from Medical Detection Dogs. Emilia took us on a journey to discover how the organisation began training dogs to support people with complex health conditions, saving their lives on a daily basis.

Using their amazing sense of smell, these dogs can identify odour changes emitted prior an episode and alert the person to take preventative action.

We were introduced to the wonderful dogs and the science behind the sniff.  It was a delightful experience for everyone, especially our canine-loving residents.

Residents enjoy a visit from Alf

Residents and colleagues of Mount Vale have enjoyed a visit from their special friend, Alf the therapy dog. Alf regularly visits the home to help boost resident morale and improve mental wellbeing and everyone really enjoys stroking and chatting with Alf.

We have many residents who have had dogs in the past including collie dogs and conversations turn into wonderful reminiscing sessions. We look forward to seeing you soon Alf!

Cat's Pyjamas live entertainment

We were delighted to welcome Cats Pyjamas to Mount Vale for an afternoon of live entertainment. They performed a medley of songs from the 60's,70's and 80's, along with songs from musicals such as South Pacific.

Residents had a wonderful time singing, twirling their shakers and moving to the music. Residents, commented how much they loved the variety of songs Carole sang and we look forward to seeing you again soon.

Aqua painting

Our Residents enjoying some colour therapy and aqua painting on these cold frosty days. We really enjoyed the beautiful drawings. It’s a tranquil activity with residents just needing to brush water on the paper for their paintings to appear. Like magic!

It was a lovely way to spend the afternoon socialising and relaxing with friends.

Baking Club

Residents of Mount Vale enjoy their regular group ‘Baking Club’ and this week’s recipe was delicious mouth-watering cookies.

The cookies created a wonderful aroma around the home and didn’t last long once baked! Residents talked about their favourite recipes (often family secrets!), childhood baking activities, with one resident remarking on his fond memories of working in a baker’s on one of his first Saturday jobs.

New Year's Eve celebrations

Celebrations were in full swing at Mount Vale as residents were joined by popular vocalist, Steve Field for New Year’s Eve.

The home’s New Year’s Eve party kicked off in style with a live performance by Steve who sung a medley of hits, as residents and their loved ones sang and danced along to some favourite hits from across the decade.

The party was rounded off with a delicious buffet, filled with sweet and savoury snacks and a selection of celebratory beverages. Guests thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon, with a resident at the home, commenting, “It has been such a wonderful afternoon.”
