Activities at Mount Tryon Care Home

Our home is always full of life, and we can thank our wonderful Activities Coordinators for this. Dedication to creating a unique and interesting activities programme is what sets us apart from other homes. We always take into consideration that some people would prefer to pursue their own interests, which is why our team strive to incorporative activities that cater to a wide range of tastes and hobbies. Our trips out are always fun and exciting as well, and residents are guaranteed to return with stories to tell their loved ones!

Afternoon Tea and a trip down memory lane.

Here you can see our lovely residents at Mount Tryon enjoying a delicious Afternoon Tea on the 25th anniversary of the late Princess Diana.

We all enjoyed watching a film about her life and we discussed various royals past and present whilst reminiscing fondly about the Princess.

Our wonderful kitchen at Mount Tryon did not disappoint as always. We asked for homemade delicious Sweet Treats and they certainly delivered. With Chocolate Eclairs, Lemon Cake and Cup Cakes to feast on, we had everything we could wish for to satisfy a sweet tooth!

Of course and Anniversary wouldn’t be the same without a toast. So with our chilled bottles of Prosecco at the ready, we toasting the late Princess.

The perfect way to take a trip down memory lane.

Getting creative with Lavender Bag making

This week we turned our attention and our creativity to making Lavender bags at Mount Tryon.

Leonie, our Activities Coordinator prepared the lounge with a diffuser along with the finest lavender oil.

Along with some relaxing music, we got to work.

Our residents started to fill bags with fresh lavender from our beautiful garden.

We produced lots of gorgeous Lavender bags and these are our first stocking fillers for their friends and family!

After their hard work, we settled down for a well to a lavender hand massage and a nice cup of tea and cake.

The aroma in our residents lounge was extremely therapeutic and our residents were relaxed and content.

Apple Crumble Magic

Today at Mount Tryon, Apple Crumble was the dessert of the day. A week earlier, Leonie our Activities coordinator and our Home Services Advisor, Adele, visited Orchard Forest School where volunteers meet to tend to the orchards and gardens.

It's an Intergenerational Event with the over 50's along with a toddler group, bringing ball ages together.

We were given a huge bag of their delicious apples and as you can see, our residents thoroughly enjoyed making a delicious crumble which we enjoyed in addition to our tea time desserts provided by our kitchen.

Community Matters to us at Mount Tryon

Here at Mount Tryon we really value our Community.

We have been fortunate enough to volunteer with the Orchard Forest School

We especially love intergenerational work and we joined the wonderful Orchard Forest school for their over 50’s group where a group of toddlers also joined in on the action.

There was hot soup steaming away on the camp fire, (which was delicious!) served to us volunteers after we had chopped away in the garden – harvesting the apples and contributed a small part in helping to create the new sensory garden.

Some volunteers shared their thoughts on the work that the Forest School does – all positive. Some adults had found their way to the School by the Socially Subscribed route and some said that it had simply saved them.

The Forest School creates a magic that is difficult to put into words. During lockdown when people were isolated, some suffered a lot with poor mental health. The Forest School stepped in and supported a way back to the local community, the benefits seem endless.

We are so thankful here at Mount Tryon to be able to support this incredible part of the community.
