Activities at Milford House Care Home
The Activities Team at Milford House are dedicated to providing a range of stimulating activities for both groups and individuals, that promote both physical and mental wellbeing based upon resident's interests both past and present. As a member of the National Activity Providers Association (NAPA) the team are always striving to incorporate best practice into the array of activities on offer and to enhance their own skills through qualification with NAPA to NVQ Level 3 in Activities Provision. The team combine weekly activity favourites such as sherry mornings with special events, musical entertainments, slide shows, outings in our own mini-bus as well as interacting with local community groups such as Plain Arts Salisbury to showcase resident art and creativity and others who come into the home to interact with our residents. Milford House also benefits from a strong network of volunteers who support the Activity Team as they deliver their programme and who, along with friends and relatives, are always welcome to come and join in our sessions and outings.
Kylie Colman
Kylie has three years experience as an Activities Co-Ordinator and has loved every moment! Having recently joined the Milford team she is looking forward to getting to know all our residents and to delivering, alongside the rest of the team, an interesting and diverse programme of activities. She loves being outside and in particular organising trips out of the home and activities and events that take place in our gorgeous gardens.

Fun with Friends
Residents at Milford, pictured here with regular entertainers, Mike & Muriel, look forward to welcoming a varied band of entertainers who, over the years, have become firm friends.
Mike & Muriel have now been coming to Milford for nearly three years and we look forward to having them as much as we hope that they look forward to coming!
We are so lucky to have a wonderful range of entertainers to call on who all bring something different to the home.
Many Happy Returns
Here at Milford, we love celebrating birthdays, especially as our chefs are such renowned cake makers! Recently, we were delighted to celebrate another milestone day for one of our centenarians. Cakes, cards, presents and a tea party were the order of the day and everyone had fun, but in particular our birthday girl!
Employee of the Month
Phil Chapman, our General Manager, was delighted to present Rosie Hoque with Milford’s Employee of the Month. Rosie was nominated for consistently providing an excellent service to Residents in both her Domestic and Kitchen rolls and for always doing her tasks cheerfully. Rosie has been at Milford for over 10 years and as this award shows is well and truly part of the Milford family. Congratulations Rosie!
Brain Game
Keeping active takes many forms at Milford House and this week saw us giving our brains a good work out as we played Giant Scrabble. Two teams of residents battled it out and it was a close run thing with both teams scoring over 200 points, with the winning margin being just four points, which was the difference between one tile being left out when one team had finished! It was a fun afternoon and we are looking forward to the next visit from the scrabble board in a few weeks’ time.
Indoor Games
Here at Milford House, we like to use our gardens as much as possible, especially for regular active games, but now that the weather is starting to turn, we have come indoors to our conservatory, which provides a great venue for indoor games, such as quoits, skittles and bean bag target shooting, just to name a few.
We are lucky that we are able to clear a space to accommodate these activities and then transform the area back into its normal configuration so that we can all enjoy a well-earned cup of tea!
A Couple of Swells
Residents at Milford House were treated to a fabulous concert by Paul and Chris (on the violin and guitar) who call themselves ‘A Couple of Swells’, provided by Music in Hospitals and Care.
Performing a wonderful mixture of instrumental music and foot-tapping numbers, including familiar and well-loved songs, they had residents tapping their feet and singing along for the whole afternoon.
The hour flew by and left everyone wanting more, which is great, as we have three more concerts booked in between now and Christmas due to the generosity of sponsors who support Music in Hospitals and Care.
We are all counting down the days!
