Activities at Meadow Park Care Home

Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Valentines Day

Love was most definitely in the air at Meadow Park, staff and residents had a fun filled day with lots of love hearts and kisses. Valentine’s day was especially special for those who live with their significant others here at Meadow Park as they shared this love filled day together. We like to make these occasions extra special and our staff certainly go the extra mile to make these days memorable.

Chinese New Year

Residents have had a Chinese banquet today, and  have been getting crafty in order to decorate the home, they have sampled some of the Chinese delicacies that some haven’t tasted before.

From spring rolls to prawn toast, with sweet chilli dips, residents have enjoyed tantalising their tastebuds

Our second chef Kerry rustled up a delicious Chicken Curry with rice for lunch, and Vegetable Chow Mein for tea, which all went down a treat

Chinese New Year…. Celebrated around the world, the festival recognises the second new moon after the winter solstice and the beginning of spring.

Dementia Cafe

Today saw our second Dementia Cafe of the year.

Residents and their families came together and got to know each other over Tea and Cake.

Our Dementia cafes are an ideal opportunity for residents and their families to come together, everybody is welcome and we invite the community to come along too.

Master Florist tutorial

Across our homes we had a fantastic time joining, Kathryn Delve, Master Florist, for a Valentine’s-inspired live virtual flower arranging demonstration. Kathryn shared brilliant and creative ways to decorate our tables with beautiful flowers that are sure to make your heart swoon!

Those participating in this virtual event put their skills to the test and followed along with some amazing creations of their own.  Residents truly enjoyed the experience.

Respite Reunion

Today we welcomed back the lovely Marlene and Sylvia for a cuppa and a catch up over Fish and Chips, in the paper of course.

Marlene and Sylvia came to Meadow Park for respite and have since settled back in the community, today we brought them back for lunch and to see their friends.

Our residents look forward to seeing them, as they not only know each other from Meadow Park, but from the past, with our Freda going to school with Marlene, many moons ago.

Our ladies had a lovely catch up, and shared photos with each other, from their school days, with staff trying to guess who was who.

It’s very special for us to be able to still engage and keep in touch with these ladies, and they know our door is always open for them, if they just fancy a cuppa or a chat.

Talent shines at Meadow Park

Our residents were entertained by the team of Meadow Park…. From Cher to Freddie Mercury, there was a variety of acts for residents to feast their eyes on… and score the best.

The whole team opened the show with Miley Cyrus’ - ‘The Climb’ - then on came our lovely carer David, who gave us a Jackson 5 rendition, next up was the lovely Elsa singing Diana Ross’ Home.

Dennis wowed the crowds as Tommy Cooper… then a blast from the past with the worlds biggest Girl band ‘The Spice Girls’ David & Elsa performed a lovely duet of ‘you raise me up’ then Amanda as Cher with backing from KayAnne.  The Team closed the show with ‘This is me’ from The Greatest Showman. A wonderful afternoon has been had by all, and we would like to thanks our families and friends for coming along and supporting us.

Not forgetting a huge Thank you to the staff, who, some took time on their day off to participate. - Well done everyone… All winners
